FanDuel daily picks: Fantasy basketball lineup – January 2, 2019
High Value SF
Players costing $6,667 or under
Kyle Anderson (vs DET – $6,300): Needs 26.6 fantasy points. Anderson was up to 41.1 fantasy points against the Rockets on Dec. 31. The Pistons are on a back-to-back, which should help the Grizzlies out. And the Pistons are struggling in a big way right now. Anderson isn’t reliable in a single category but typically does enough in all categories to at least get value. Diagnosis: Reliable with a good ceiling and matchup.
Harrison Barnes (at CHA – $5,900): Needs 24.9 fantasy points. Barnes had 33.5 fantasy points against the Thunder on Dec. 31. While the Mavericks are not good on the road, I worry less about a veteran like Barnes. And the matchup is still good as the Hornets don’t offer much in terms of defense. I’m going to trust that Barnes will get his scoring numbers in this one, but it is worrying that his value is largely tied to his scoring. Diagnosis: Good ceiling and matchup.
Jeff Green (vs ATL – $5,600): Needs 23.6 fantasy points. You can always spend the extra money and get Trevor Ariza at this position. Ariza is far more reliable because his minutes are guaranteed and he’s just a better player. But if Green gets the minutes he should get, he’s shown a high ceiling and saves you money. The matchup is the same either way. I’m going to trust Green will get enough minutes in this game to produce, but if you’re worried about him being Jeff Green, Ariza is the way to go. Diagnosis: Inconsistent, but a high ceiling. Trust that the minutes will be there.
