DraftKings NHL Fantasy Sleepers – Must Plays for Jan 3rd
By John Fazio
Let’s look at some of the best NHL Fantasy Sleepers we can use to provide the value we need to roster the big guns. One good strategy is to core good value options and rotate the best players around them.
NHL Fantasy Sleepers – Centers
Jared McCann ($3800), Florida
He has been involved with the scoring line in all but 2 December road games, and has performed much better away from home while exceeding salary based expectations (SBE) easily as a result. He plays on the 3rd line but is used on the 2nd power play (PP) line.
Ryan O’Reilly ($5800), St Louis
Solid performer, exceeding SBE in all December home victories as well as accounting for either a goal or assist in home games the Blues only scored once.
Lucas Wallmark ($3200), Carolina
He has a low floor but also can post excellent returns in tournament contests. He plays on the 2nd line and on the 2nd PP line. Not afraid to shoot when given the opportunity.
NHL Fantasy Sleepers – Wingers
Brock Boeser ($5800), Vancouver
Tournament play only but when he’s on, look out. Multiple goals and assists possible with him. Plays on the 2nd line but on the 1st PP line. Worth a look.
Dustin Brown ($5300), LA Kings
Good bargain for a guy playing on the top line and the 2nd PP line. He can exploit a weak Tampa Bay team ranked 28th in the league against wingers.
Sam Reinhart ($5700), Buffalo
Plays on the top line and the top PP line. Will not blank the scoring sheet and is a solid cash game option. Comes with a projected 3/7 floor/ceiling.
NHL Fantasy Sleepers – Defense
Alexander Edler ($5300), Vancouver
Not the cheapest option but too good a performer not to mention here. Plays on both the top line and PP line projecting an 8 1/2 ceiling. In addition, Montreal is ranked 30th against this position, increasing his odds of a big game.
Ryan Pulock ($4600), NY Islanders
On a roll, securing positive scoring returns in most games. Plays on the 2nd line and the 2nd PP line, making the most of his opportunities. The opponent, Chicago, is ranked a weak 29th against defensemen.
Anton Stralman ($4000), Tampa Bay
Tournament play only but has a decent projected 8 ceiling. The Kings rank 23rd against the position and are vulnerable.
NHL Fantasy Sleepers – Goalies
Roster the best players for the most part at this position. There is not enough of a difference in price to warrant paying down and hoping for an unusual result.
