Welcome back readers of FantasyCPR, each week we are going to dive into the golf tournament for the upcoming week. In this piece, I will be breaking down course details and our favorite plays for the week. It feels good to have Daily Fantasy PGA back; I expect this to be a very profitable year for us in DraftKings PGA contests.

The Course:

This event will be played at Kapalua Plantation Course in Hawaii. This is very unusual but par is 73, where there are four very reachable par 5’s however there are only three par 3’s. The course plays extremely easily as the winning score has exceeded -16 or better in ten straight seasons. Scoring is going to be very popular this week, this course sets up as a complete birdie fest and eagles are in play too on all four of the par 5’s. Greens are bermuda.

The Cut:

This is a no cut event, so every golfer, unless they withdraw will play all four rounds.

DraftKings PGA Sentry Tournament of Champions Core Plays

Dustin Johnson ($11,000) – Odds: 5/1

Dustin Johnson is the clear top-stud this week, as he absolutely dominates this course. The defending champion won this event by eight strokes last season and this course sets up perfectly to his skill set. In each of the last six times that Dustin Johnson has played this course he has won twice and has never finished outside the top-10. DJ can score on a course that demands scoring, and vegas likes him as the favorite to win the event (5-1). No cut events usually have to go stars and scrubs lineup construction and at this course I want to start my lineups with Dustin Johnson. $11,000 is too cheap for a player with this course history and winning last years tournament by 8-strokes.

Jason Day ($9,000) – Odds: 12/1

Day is one of my favorite plays on the golf slate this weekend. In four to this event, Day has placed in the top-10 three times. Day likes this course a lot and is very capable of getting hot with the putter at any point. Coming off a struggling season, Day is going to want to right the wrongs of 2018 with a great start to 2019. Day also is going to be really low owned, as he is hovering round 10-percent projected ownership. Day is someone I am planning on using in my core to differentiate my lineups.

Gary Woodland ($8,000) – Odds: 22/1

Woodland is a guy that I am betting, that I will play on DraftKings this week. Originally I thought I was going to draw Woodland at decently low-ownership this week. However, after further research, he’s going to be owned and I have seen  his named getting talked up around the industry this week. Woodland has the ability to dominate this golf course with his long drives and fair iron play, the only thing that worries me about him is his putting. If he’s putting well, he’s going to be right in the mix coming Sunday. I am likely not going to play Woodland in cash games this week, but I will look to play him in my tournament lineups this week.

Value Plays:

Patton Kizzire ($6,200)

Probably my favorite value play because of what he allows me to do with my lineups. Kizzire finished top-15 here last year, not bad fora guy priced as the 29th golfer this week.

Kevin Tway ($6,500)

Chalk, I like him but this is his first time here and first-timers don’t win on this course. However, if he plays well and we don’t have him, we will lose the slate. I plan on matching the fields ownership percentage on him this week.

Ian Poulter ($6,800)

Poulter is interesting he can definitely compete in this field, however there is a wide range of outcomes with Poulter this week and that is why he is priced where he is at. Poulter has played this event twice and he has placed in the top-10 both times.
