January 5th: NFL DFS DraftKings Showdown Colts v. Texans

Welcome back reader of FantasyCPR, we have 2019 NFL DFS playoff content for you! DraftKings has posted their NFL playoff achievement and if you play in a paid NFL contest for all 12 showdown games in the playoffs you will be reward 1,000 DraftKings crowns. If you have no experience playing the showdown slates, this is a newer format that DraftKings is pushing because of the amount of money that they can turn on this product. The contests are strong, DraftKings has the quarter arcade 20-entry max with a top prize of $400 for this slate for only $5 to max the tournament out. Also DraftKings has a huge $10 entry fee that pays $25,000 to first place. Let’s dive into this Colts v. Texans game.

It’s good to have the playoffs back! The Colts 1-point underdogs, with a 48.5 point total. Virtually the smart money has bet this game into pick ’em where I could see this game going any way. If I was betting on this game, I would take the Colts +1 as I think they’re a more well-rounded and better team than the Texans are currently. The Texans feel one-dimensional to me, and I think the Colts win this game which will reflect in my rankings for this game.

Showdown Rankings:

1.) Eric Ebron, IND ($7,800)

Ebron is way too low-priced for the upside that he has in this matchup. Captain Eligible, allows me to get both the Quarterbacks and T.Y. Hilton who is my favorite receiver on the slate. Play Ebron at the captain position in cash games.

2.) T.Y. Hilton, IND ($10,600)

Hilton is my tournament captain in this game. Feel pretty decently that he’s not going to be sneaky at all especially on the one game slate. Hilton has absolutely smashed Houston so far this year, catching 13 passes on 18 targets for 314 receiving yards. He’s just hasn’t has the touchdown against them. Hilton is going to smash Houston again, I fully expect him to find the end zone this week. I am not worried at all about his injury this week, Hilton will be fine.

3.) Andrew Luck, IND ($11,400)

The Texans have been brutal against capable quarterbacks. The Texans have a strong pass rush but the Colts do a great job of protecting Andrew Luck and this Colts offense is all about getting the ball out of Luck’s hands as quick as possible. Luck’s ability to get the ball out of his hands fast will neutralize this pass rush and put the Indianapolis playmakers one-on-one v. a struggling Texans secondary. I expect Luck to absolutely smash this defense. Luck is captain playable, he’s expensive but worth it.

4.) DeShaun Watson, HOU ($11,800)

My first Texan in the rankings is Watson. Watson has had one game where he scored 35 DraftKings points against the Colts and another one where he only scored 18 DraftKings points. Think in this format we have to get Watson in as a  lock for 15-20 DraftKings points. However, I will not be playing Watson in a captain position this week, he’s too expensive and I would prefer Andrew Luck in every format.

5.) DeAndre Hopkins, HOU ($12,200)

Hopkins is interesting, as he can absolutely smash this defense, as he has been doing all season or the Colts are going to roll coverage at him and let everyone else beat them. Indianapolis has a capable coaching staff and they will roll coverage at Hopkins. You are not going to stop him, but you have to force the Texans to go to their other weapons to beat you. Hopkins has five straight games with at least 10 targets. I would expect him to get 12 more targets on this slate, I am just hoping it’s for 87 yards and the Colts can keep him out of the end zone. In both games this season, the Colts have allowed one touchdown reception to Hopkins.

6.) Nyheim Hines, IND ($4,000)

I like Hines more than Mack in this game because I do not believe that you can run on Houston. Colts are going to have to rely on Andrew Luck, Hines has caught at least three passes in each of him last five games. If one of those is in the end zone, he’s going to pay off this price tag very easily.

7.) Marlon Mack, IND ($8,200)

Mack has been dominate running for over 100 yards in two of the last four and has a touchdown in four straight weeks. I think the price is up there, he’s not really in my plans for this slate but I will probably force a few share of him into lineups.

8.) Lamar Miller, HOU ($6,800)

Playoff Lamar Miller, I’m not expecting much, he is capable of breaking a big play. I expect him to be popular, I’m just not doing it.

9.) Keke Coutee, HOU ($5,400)

Coutee is actually my favorite pivot off Hopkins, especially in this format for what is a near $7,000 price discount. Keke destroyed Indianapolis for 11 catches and 109 yards in Week 4, but this Colts team is a completely different team since that matchup. Can’t look too much into but I could see 5 catches 60 yards and a touchdown.

10.) Ryan Griffin, HOU ($800)

All the salary relief. On this slate I am going to use him in cash games this week to get all of the studs. I love him in both formats, Colts allow the most receiving yards to opposing tight ends. Griffin is the play.

11.) Adam Vinatieri, IND ($3,200)

Have to use at least one kicker in your lineup in this game. The game is decently high scoring, can expect them to be moving the ball up-and-down the field this week. Should set up for a lot of field goals if the teams struggle to convert on 3rd down.

12.) Ka’imi Fairbairn, HOU ($3,400)

Completely fine with using both him and Vinatieri in the same lineup. Offer great salary relief, allows you to pay up for Luck at the captain position.

13.) Dontrelle Inman, IND ($6,200)

The Colts like Inman as he has received 18 targets over the last four weeks and has touchdowns in each of the last two. I won’t have any of him but he’s playable.

14.) Colts, IND ($3,000)

The Texans allow more sacks than anyone, the Colts defense can get pressure, which could lead to turnovers and turnovers turn into touchdowns. Colts have sacked Texans 12 times in two games.

15.) Texans, HOU ($4,200)

Luck doesn’t get sacked a bunch but Luck is capable of throwing pick 6’s. One of the issues with getting the ball out of your hands so quickly is if the Texans can anticipate what Luck is going to do, they will have no issue returning one of these to the end zone.
