DraftKings daily picks: Fantasy basketball lineup – Jan. 5, 2019
High Salary C
Players costing over $6,250
Joel Embiid (vs DAL – $10,800): Needs 50.9 fantasy points. Embiid was up to 77.5 fantasy points against the Suns on Jan. 2. If Butler doesn’t play, you can take Embiid with confidence. Even if Butler does play, Embiid has been strong throughout this season. But I worry about the on-court dynamic with Butler and Embiid right now. The Mavs are a great matchup as they aren’t good on the round and are on a back-to-back. Diagnosis: Typically reliable and a very high ceiling.
Julius Randle (at CLE – $8,200): Needs 38.3 fantasy points. Randle was down to 34 fantasy points against the Nets, but that’s mainly because Davis did all the heavy lifting. For the most part, Randle is reliable. The scoring will be there, trust his rebounding to bounce back, especially against the Cavaliers. The only real concern is a blowout, but I trust him to produce even in limited minutes. Diagnosis: Reliable and a good ceiling if it’s not a blowout.
Clint Capela (at POR – $7,800): Needs 36.8 fantasy points. Capela was up to 63.75 fantasy points against the Warriors on Jan. 3. He’s been good during this stretch for the Rockets, but much like the Warriors game, this typically isn’t his matchup. But he’s playing with a lot of confidence and the Blazers are on a back-to-back. Diagnosis: Slightly inconsistent but a very high ceiling. Matchup could go either way.
