The Texas Tech Red Raiders aim to establish their place in the Big 12 with a top-25 clash against the 23rd-ranked Oklahoma Sooners.

Out of nowhere, the Texas Tech Red Raiders are looking like a national force out of the Big 12. This team has started the season blazing hot with a 13-1 record and a nice start to conference play. However, this team is about to welcome one of their biggest tests of the season to Lubbock on Tuesday night when the Oklahoma Sooners come calling for a top-25 matchup.

Leading the way for Texas Tech this season is no doubt Jarrett Culver. The star for the Red Raiders leads them in the three major statistical categories and seemingly can’t be contained. As good as he’s been, though, this team thrives off of their defense, allowing under 58 points per game this season. They suffocate teams when they don’t have the ball, and it’s been working.

That being said, Oklahoma is a nice defensive team as well and one of the other surprises of this season. Senior guard Christian James leads the way for the Sooners and has been a massive force for them all over the floor. They’ll look to him to try and go on the road and pick up a big in-conference upset.

This Texas Tech team has been lights out for much of the year, which is why they’ve climbed into the top 10 of the latest polls. Even so, they’ve not been tested much this year, and Oklahoma will surely do that. If the Red Raiders are to be taken seriously in the Big 12 and nationally, picking up a win over the Sooners will help the cause.
