DraftKings EuroLeague Basketball Picks January 9
We have a two round week, so the DraftKings EuroLeague tournaments start on Tuesday instead of Thursday. The Wednesday-Friday have Mike James on it, and most of the bargains. However, there are some bad matchups for our forwards.

The rotations can be frustrating sometimes as more players see the court than in your average NBA game. The games themselves are also shorter, playing four ten minute quarters as opposed to 12 minutes in the NBA. The court is smaller, the lane is bigger, and the three point line is closer, but the action is still what you would expect from world class basketball!
For DraftKings EuroLeague, we can’t expect 5x value like in the NBA. Most winning lineups are around 180-200 DraftKings points, which is around 3.5 – 4x value.

Guards:
Yes, Mike James is on here, but he has a bad matchup. On paper at least. Barcelona is the fifth best team in the league against guards, but James lit them up for 46.5 DraftKIngs points in 36 minutes the first time around. This should again be a close game, and despite the (allegedly) poor matchup, James is a tough one to fade here. After all, his price has already been adjusted down, and his matchup isn’t much worse than what Nick Calathes draws. It’s James or nothing at the top for me.
Toney Douglas has 83 DraftKings points over the last two rounds. If I fade James, Douglas is easily my other top guard. If I can find enough comfortable value up front, I’m cramming them both in my lineup. Honestly, I may fade James and just go with Douglas and Norris Cole. Cole has 69.5 DraftKings points in the last two rounds.
It’s a very good matchup for the CSKA backcourt, but they are very inconsistent. Nando de Colo is the safest and has the highest floor, but that floor is still the mid single digits. That’s too low for his price. Both Sergio Rodriguez and Cory Higgins have been in the single digits within the last five rounds. They are all tempting, but I don’t know that I really trust any of them. If you want to use one, de Colo is the safe bet with Higgins a close second. I’m ignoring all of them and using Dino Hackett if I need a value play.
Thomas Huertel went for a season high 37 DraftKings points in the first game against Milan. With all of the other great values in this tier, Huertel could go low owned. Ray McCallum and Deandre Kane are in the same boat. Huertel is my top play of the three, but McCallum probably has the most upside.
Last round Michael Roll played his most minutes since November 15th, and put up some huge numbers doing it. Podgorica has been better with Douglas in their backcourt, but I still like Roll in this price range.
DraftKings must want to see if they can make a player 100% owned. Markel Brown is WAY too cheap. Brown has at least 3x value in four straight rounds. Make it five here. Pau Ribas is an interesting option if you need to go cheaper. He has at least ten DraftKings points in four straight rounds. That’s pretty rare in the EuroLeague.
Forwards:
This is about as good as matchups get for Will Clyburn. He has averaged 36.8 DraftKings points per game over the last four rounds. In a good matchup like this, it makes sense that he will be in that range again tonight. With a lot of forwards having average matchups, the good one that Clyburn has kind of sticks out. It’s hard to pair him with James, Douglas, or Cole, but I think that’s the way to go.

Vladimir Micov is on a tear right now. He has 74.5 DraftKings points over the last two rounds. The matchup against Barcelona is middle of the pack, but he is enough cheaper than Clyburn that I may be interested.
It was fun while it lasted. Having Goga Bitadze at a really low price. We have to pay up for him now, and he may still be worth it. Bitadze has 77.75 DraftKings points in the last two rounds. The only difference is that he wont be universally owned here. Earl Clark is also a solid play if you want to be contrarian and stack the Podgorica front.
Once again, I like Adam Hanga in the middle tier. He’s not going to fit in if you’re chasing the high priced forwards, but if you are going with a rounded build, Hanga is a good fit. If you are looking for value in the Barcelona frontcourt, Kevin Seraphin is the answer. Alex Tyus is a strong fit in this tier as well, but with Bitadze playing well on both sides of the ball, he may not break 25 DraftKings points like he has been lately.
Angelo Caloiaro is a nice value pick if Tarik Black misses the game. Black didn’t play last round, but we haven’t heard much of anything about his status for this one. I also like Kyle Hines against Darussafaka. They are getting better, but Hines usually flies under the radar and puts up decent numbers.
There could be more minutes for Mindaugas Kuzminskas with Kaleb Tarczewski out again. Keep an eye on the status of Jeff Brooks, but Kuzminskas should be the first one picking up the slack.
