NHL DFS DraftKings Snipes – Wednesday January 9th

We are back with another NHL DFS DraftKings Snipes for you daily fantasy players. We at FantasyCPR will have you covered with some snipes for tonight’s slate.

Welcome to the New Year everyone! We are just over a week into 2019 and have plenty of hockey to go. Congrats to team Finland on their Gold medal in the World Juniors Tournament. Hope you enjoyed watching some of the young players who were either recently drafted or will soon take the NHL by storm in the coming years.

Each post for 2019 will provide a quick recap of players discussed in previous articles. Success is the clear goal, but it is important to understand our misses as well. See if we can find those trends that work, and areas we can improve.

Dec. 31

Nathan MacKinnon – 1 goal and 4 shots on goal. 21:53 time on ice and 4:53 on the power play.

Mathew Barzal – 1 assist and 2 shots on goal. 20:12 time on ice, and 2:22 time on the power play.

Barclay Goodrow – 2 shots on goal and 3 hits.

Mikko Rantanen – 1 assist and 1 shot on goal. 23:34 time on ice and over 5 minutes on the power play.

Brady Tkachuk – 1 shot on goal and 16:48 time on ice.

Kris Letang – 1 assist and over 25 minutes of time on ice.

Victor Hedman – 1 assist and 3 shots on goal. 23:52 time on ice, and 4:30 on the power play.

Andrei Vasilevskiy – 35 saves and 1 goal against. Won the game 2-1.

NHL DFS DraftKings Snipes – Center

Sean Monahan Flames ($7,000)

Depending on which route you decide to go tonight, Monahan should be on your radar. You could play him as a one-off, or pair him with Johnny Gaudreau, who has been one of the hottest players in the NHL lately. Monahan put on quite the show against the Blackhawks the other night, with a goal and an assist to go along with 10 shots on goal.

He has 23 goals and 31 assists and 15 points in his last 10 games. On New Years Eve, Monahan had a five assist game. As long as he is on a line with Gaudreau, power play included, expect Monahan to keep producing. The 24-year-old has 60+ points in three of his first five seasons and is well on pace to surpass that number again.

Nick Bonino Predators ($4,000)

Bonino is one option for a value play. His numbers do not stand out, but Cam Ward has been extremely underwhelming. The Hawks rank 30th against opposing centers and giving up a ton of odd man breaks and A+ scoring opportunities.

He gets to skate on the second power play unit and has five goals on the man advantage. Bonino has earned decent ice time in his second season with Nashville at 16.5 minutes per game. He will look to do his damage against a Blackhawks team giving up shots in bunches.

NHL DFS DraftKings Snipes – Winger

Patrick Kane Blackhawks ($7,400)

Showtime is finally looking like his old self again, even as the Blackhawks have tumbled this season. Since the departure of Artemi Panarin, Joel Quenneville and Jeremy Colliton have struggled to find a line as deadly as Kane, Panarin and Artem Anisimov.

Kane has found a new jump in his step with a defenseman that we will discuss later, and newly acquired Dylan Strome. You can throw in young sniper, Alex DeBrincat, and Kane has really racked up the points. Through 44 games, Kaner has 56 points on 24 goals and 32 assists. His possession metrics have dipped below 50.0% for the first time in his career, but that could change soon with the way the Hawks have played lately.

Johnny Gaudreau Flames ($7,900)

Could not write this piece without Johnny Hockey on the list. As the most expensive winger on the slate, you will have to find value elsewhere, but he is too hot to forget about. A chalky choice, but you don’t want to be the one that loses to him on a small slate. He has a gaudy 64 points through 44 games and averaging 8.0 FPPG over his last 10 games.

Kevin Fiala Predators ($4,100)

Fiala gave the Blackhawks fits the last time these two teams played. He had a goal, six shots on net, and two hits in 19 minutes of ice time. He has nine points in his last ten games and looks to get the match up against Cam Ward and a team that ranks 23rd against opposing left wingers. Fiala has been spectacular in the possession categories with a CF% of 54.0 and a FF% of 53.6. He is a part of the second power play unit

NHL DFS DraftKings Snipes – Defense and Goalie

Erik Gustafsson Blackhawks ($4,500)

This matchup is not a great one for the Blackhawks as we discussed earlier with Kaner. But Kane and Gustafsson have developed a nice chemistry on the ice that I would like to exploit tonight. Hawks skaters may get overlooked because of their match up and performance halfway through the season. But under new head coach Jeremy Colliton, the Hawks have played better lately earning points in seven of their last ten games.

More from FanSided

In his third season with the Blackhawks, Gustafsson is finally starting to flash his offensive skill set that he had shown with the Rockford IceHogs. He has eight goals and 18 assists including at least one assist in six straight. He has a CF% of 51.4 and has a major role on the power play.

David Rittich Flames ($8,000)

With only three games on the slate, we are forced to make a tough decision. The chalk will likely be Pekka Rinne against the Blackhawks. My knock on this opportunity for Rinne in their match up is the Hawks do not tend to take far less shots than their opponent. This would force us to rely on the win and hope for a shutout.

Rittich will cover the posts behind a hot Calgary team (pun is fully intended). Stopping the Avalanche will not be an easy task. Rittich may need to stand on his head in this match up, but he has proven to be a top goaltender this year. He is 15-4-3 on the season and has a .921 Sv%. He will likely have to turn aside a wave of shots from the high-flying Avs, but in front of his home crown, Rittich could be the one to do it.
