NHL DFS Man Advantage Wednesday January 9th
By Matt Vecchio
Welcome to NHL DFS Man Advantage for Wednesday night January 9th! Tonight we have a very small 3 game slate. With only 3 games on the slate I won’t do my typical breakdown, I will give you a little different format but it should be just as helpful.
The three NHL DFS games we get tonight are Nashville in Chicago, Colorado is in Calgary (this is the game I am looking forward to the most), and Ottawa is in Anaheim in the last game of the night.
NHL DFS Goalies
Tonight there are really only 2 goalies I am interested in using, Pekka Rinne ($8,300) and John Gibson ($8,200).
Rinne has a good matchup with the Blackhawks who have lost 3 of their last 4 games and scored only 12 goals in that span. Rinne also has won 3 of his last 5 starts against the Blackhawks allowing just 12 goals in the 5 games. While Rinne and the Preds haven’t been playing that well, Rinne has won of his last 3 starts and comes off a shutout of the high-powered Maple Leafs.
Gibson also hasn’t been playing well either, losing 4 straight starts, but Ottawa hasn’t won a game since before Christmas, losing 8 in a row, and haven’t won a road game since December 14.
Unfortunately there isn’t much good to use in net tonight so you are pretty much just trying to pick the guy who hurts you the least.
NHL DFS Top Plays
Like I said I am going to this a little different tonight… so here it goes.
My top plays all come from one game, Colorado and Calgary. This game has a good chance of being a shootout with a ton of goals being scored. I am going to try to build my team around a combo of the team’s top lines.
Colorado 1 – Gabriel Landeskog ($6,900) – Nathan MacKinnon ($8,000) – Mikko Rantanen ($7,300)
Calgary 1 – Johnny Gaudreau ($7,900) – Sean Monahan ($7,000) – Elias Lindholm ($6,700)
I will most likely try to fit at least 3 of these guys into my lineup, just not sure who yet, but you can’t really go wrong with any of them right now
Other Options:
Patrick Kane ($7,400) – Kane has turned back the clock and is on a roll right now. Over his last 10 games Kane has 9 goals and 9 assists to go along with 39 shots on goal and averaging 6.9 FPPG.
Filip Forsberg ($6,100) – Forsberg played his first game since November 29 on Monday and looked a little rusty, but he does have points in his last 4 games against the Hawks, 2 goals and 2 assists, as well as 16 shots on goal

Ondrej Kase ($6,000) – Kase has 2 goals and an assist in his last 4 games and is averaging 3.6 FPPG in that span as well. Kase plays on the Ducks top line with Ryan Getzlaf and Pontus Aberg as well on the team’s top PP unit along with Cam Fowler ($5,100) who is a good D play tonight as well
Ryna Dzingel ($5,000) – While the Senators have lost 8 in a row, Dzingel has been hot scoring 4 goals and 2 assists in his last 4 games. At his low price he will probably be in my main lineup build to get some of the top guys in.
Mattias Ekholm ($4,700) – Ekholm has 2 goals and 3 assists in his last 3 as well as averaging 6.2 FPPG .
Duncan Keith ($3,900) – Keith is playing like he’s 29 and not 39 right now. In his last 3 games Keith has 1 goal and 2 assists and 11 fantasy points in that time.
Dylan Demelo ($3,300) – Demelo has seen his ice time increase in the last four games as well as 3 assists and is averaging over 3 FPPG.
