When are the 2019 Academy Awards and how can I watch?

The Golden Globes certainly got us into the award season mood and now we’re just looking forward to the 2019 Academy Awards. The Oscars take place on Sunday, Feb. 24, 2019, and will air on ABC for those who are planning Oscars viewing parties or just want to relax with some fancy ball gowns on a Sunday night.

Late last year a new category was announced, Outstanding Achievement in Popular Film, which was to be awarded to the highest grossing film but the Academy has decided to postpone the award due to the outcry over the idea of the new category.

Of course, there’s also the live performances, skits, jokes and the In Memorium segment which somehow always snubs someone. It was also announced in early January that for the first time since 1989, there will be no Oscars host. This is due, in part, to the scandal surrounding the previously announced host, Kevin Hart, and his resurfaced homophobic tweets.

The ceremony will take place at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood following a lengthy red carpet which we are all sure to swoon over.
