Welcome to NHL DFS Man Advantage for Friday night January 9th! After last nights massive 12 game slate we get a much smaller 4 game slate tonight. With only 4 games to break down we will need to look a little deeper than usual to find some bargains on these 8 teams 3rd or maybe 4th lines, especially in GPP’s, if you want to separate yourself from the pack

In tonight’s NHL DFS 4 games it seems that 2 teams will be where everyone will be focusing, Pittsburgh in Anaheim and Calgary hosting Florida on the second of a back to back. We also have Buffalo in Carolina, also on a back to back, as is Winnipeg hosting Detroit.

NHL DFS Goalies

If you’ve been reading my article nightly you already know who my number one goalie is tonight… yep, you’re right, it’s Matt Murray ($8,300). While I don’t necessarily prefer paying top price for a goalie, it’s hard to look elsewhere tonight. Murray is on a personal 8 game unbeaten streak, he also does not have a regulation loss this season on the road (7-0-1), and gets to face a team in Anaheim that is only averaging 2.5 goals per game on the season. Anaheim is on a 9 game losing streak and has only scored 12 goals in that span and has only scored more than 1 goal in a game twice. Everything points to Murray having the top goalie performance on the night, so let’s just lock him in for cash games and move on.

If you are looking to fade Murray, which I only recommend for GPP’s, I am on Carter Hutton ($8,200) and Laurent Brossoit ($7,900) for tonight. Whoever starts in net for Calgary can also be a viable option but I am not going to advocate using them personally because Florida does have one of the better offenses on this slate.

NHL DFS Top Individual Players

Top Tier:

Johnny Gadreau ($8,000) – I find it nearly impossible to fade Johnny Hockey right now with how locked in he is. Over the Flames last 10 games, Gaudreau has points in 9 totaling 11 goals and 10 assists as well as averaging 7.5 FPPG. Gaudreau is a great one-off play because of his ability to put up multi point games (7 multi point games in the last 10) but also stacking him with Elias Lindholm and/or Sean Monahan is a good play

More from FanSided

Sidney Crosby ($7,900) – Crosby on any ice is a great play, but he is actually an even better play then usual on the road this season. In 19 road games (compared to 21 home games) Crosby has 28 points, 3 more than at home (14 goals and 14 assists) and is averaging 5.7 FPPG a whole 1.5 points more than at home. In one game against the Ducks this season Crosby has an assist. Crosby with Bryan Rust is a good affordable mini stack, or with Jake Guentzel as a good high-end stack

Jack Eichel ($7,200) – We will need to monitor the news though it looks like Eichel will play on Friday night. Eichel went through a full practice and went through line rushes with his usual linemates, Jeff Skinner and Sam ReinhartAs long as Eichel dresses for tonight’s game he is in play as a top play.

Mid Tier:

Mark Giordano ($6,400) – Giordano has assists in the 5 of the last 6 games for the Flames and is averaging 4.75 FPPG in the last 6 games as well. Giordano is a point-per-game player, which is pretty good for a defenseman, and he is coming off a 3 assists game on Wednesday night against Colorado

Gustav Nyquist ($5,100)/Andreas Athanasiou($4,900) – I like both these players tonight and they play together on the Wing 2nd PP unit and on separate even strength lines. Nyquist comes into tonight’s game on a 3 game assist streak and averaging over 3 FPPG. Athanasiou is even hotter with 5 goals and an assist in the Wings last 5 games and is averaging 5.2 FPPG in his last 5.

Dougie Hamilton ($5,100) – Hamilton is on a 4 game point streak, 3 goals and an assist is severely under-performing this season with only 15 points (6 goals 9 assists) in 42 games. If his upward trend continues he could make a decent season out of this one, and hopefully it continues tonight.

Value Tier:

Bryan Little ($3,800) -Little is centering the Jets second line with Patrik Laine and Jack Roslovic (pretty decent value stack tonight). Little added an assist Thursday night in a 3-2 loss to the Wild running him up to a modest 3 game point streak with 2 goals and 2 assists in the last 3.

Marcus Pettersson ($3,000) – Slight revenge narrative here with Pettersson heading back to Anaheim who traded him away earlier this year (same can be said for Daniel Sprong against the Penguins). Pettersson has really started to play well after a feeling out period with the Penguins. Coming into tonight’s game Pettersson is riding a 4 game point streak with 5 assists in that span. With how well he’s been playing $3K is a bargain for Pettersson
