DraftKings NBA Early Picks January 12: Blake’s revenge
We have a split Saturday for our DraftKings NBA picks. There are eight games today, but two of them tip earlier, so they get spun into their own little tournament. Most people just ignore these, but there is still enough money up for grabs to make it worth our while.

All three of my lineups hit 310 or better, but only the one with 345 cashed. The cash line was a ridiculous 320.75 DraftKings points.
The winning lineup was only 63 DraftKings points above the cash line, which really isn’t much. He built around Simmons and Harden like I did, but he had Satoransky’s triple double and very good value from Rudy and Dedmon.

DraftKings NBA Guard Picks:
Justise Winslow went nuts the other night, but the chances of that happening against Mike Conley are pretty slim. I don’t really like either side of this matchup, but with only two games to choose from, we can’t be too picky. I would rather use Conley at only $1,000. Price wont really be too big of an issue today anyway.
Lou Williams is in play on any slate. This being a very small one only makes him stand out more. His per minute numbers are very good when he comes off the bench, and he’s got a nice matchup against a Pistons team that has been atrocious on their left coast trip. The only Pistons guard I am even remotely interested in is Reggie Bullock. The other Reggie is in play too, but he was so bad on Thursday, I just don’t know if I can use him.
Kyle Anderson and Dwyane Wade are constantly getting close to value, but neither of them has much for upside. They are mostly for use in cash games, but on a day like this where we just ask a value play to get within a stone’s throw of 5x, they could both be used. I prefer Anderson, but Wade has a nice streak of seven games over 20 DraftKings points even after his awful start on Thursday.
For those of you shying away from Tyler Johnson based on matchup, don’t. He put up 32.25 DraftKings points on Memphis the first time around. I prefer Johnson for the price over Wade or J-Rich.
The minutes are there for Bruce Brown, and he finally had the production to match in what was a disastrous night for the rest of his teammates. If you are value hunting, there are worse places to spend your money. Dion Waiters is also a strong value pick. He has 60.75 DraftKings points in 56 minutes over three games while he’s working himself back into shape.
If you’re digging any deeper, there’s a whole lot of risk and not much else. Patrick Beverley and Garrett Temple both see good minutes, but both have seen a single digit DraftKings point game in the last week. Langston Galloway is at least hitting double digits, but not by much.
Forwards:
Blake took Thursday off to rest up for his return to L.A. against his former team. Griffin is my absolute favorite play from the day slate here. I don’t trust Drummond because of the last few games, but I’m all in on Blake. I also like Tobias Harris in the revenge spot. Play them both!

The Pistons actually might defend Gallinari pretty well, but I like the fact that he almost always hits 30 DraftKings points. Gallo has only missed that mark once in the last 13 games.
I’m not really crazy about anyone in the middle tier. To me Harrell could have trouble with the larger Drummond, so I don’t really want to take a chance on him with the price that high. Bam is probably the best in the tier because Miami has been using him even more than Whiteside lately. He doesn’t always do the most with it, but Bam is a certain value play right now. Shhhhh! Don’t tell Olynyk!
The Memphis power forward pendulum has swung back in favor of JaMychal Green. This is a good spot for him. I also like James Johnson on the other side if he remains the starter. This is a fluid situation though.
The only “true” center that I have any interest in here is Marcin Gortat. It would be Boban Marjanovic if they elect to start him against the massive Drummond. Either are good value plays, but not both. Only the one that starts.
Justin Holiday almost dropped 60 on the Heat while he was a Bull earlier this season. Don’t expect a repeat here, but with Dillon Brooks out for the season, he may finally see some decent run with his new team.
