DraftKings NBA Early Picks January 13: Jump on the Beal train

We have a split Sunday for our DraftKings NBA picks as well. There are only seven games today though. Two are earlier in the afternoon. DraftKings did isolate the Bucks/Hawks tilt at 3:30 eastern, which robs the early slate of Giannis, Collins, and a ton of value. The other four tip later. As with yesterday, there’s a chance for decent money in the afternoon, a slate that most people may shy away from.

More from DFS

The cash line for the early slate was a pretty strong 283 DraftKings points. Mine cleared 300 to comfortably cash thanks to Blake and JaMychal Green.

The winning lineup was a three way tie at 340.5 DraftKings points. They built with Blake and Montrezl Harrell and got nice value out of Bullock, J-Rich, and Justise Winslow.

DraftKings NBA Guard Picks:

The status of Embiid is going to determine a lot of this slate, but he should be fine. That brings down the value on both Ben Simmons and Jimmy Butler. Simmons has 85.5 DraftKings points in just 54 minutes against the Knicks this year, but that also highlights the risk. There is huge blowout potential here. I may think about Simmons if Butler ends up sitting out with bruised ribs/bad attitude.

Bradley Beal is my top play anywhere on this slate. He has 89.25 DraftKings points in two games against the Raptors already this year, and Wall played in both of those. Beal is an automatic 50, and likely gets a lot more than that. He may not drop 70 like Blake did, but Beal could come close.

This is a great spot for Kyle Lowry, but he hasn’t come close to 40 DraftKings points since his return. Lowry racked up 91 DraftKings points in only 64 minutes on Washington earlier this year, and the defense isn’t much better with Wall out. However, Lowry’s price is down to the range where we don’t even need 40 from him. We should get it here though.

The ownership on Tomas Satoransky is going to be massive after his triple double on Friday. Is this a sign that he has taken his game to the next level? He’ll have to prove it here against Lowry and Toronto. I think I’ll let everyone else ride this. Satoransky is not a sure thing for as chalky as he will be.

J.J. Redick was back to his sharpshooting self against the Hawks, but I’ll only use him if someone sits. Same think with Furkan Korkmaz or T.J. McConnell. Butler or Embiid would have to sit to put them in play. There are better places to dig today.

Danny Green is a solid value play, but we know the drill with him. He is an outstanding defender, but usually is not very involved in the offense. Of course, that changes if Fred VanVleet sits. If FVV is out, I like Green a lot more, and it also opens up Delon Wrignt as an outstanding value play, especially if Patrick McCaw can’t make his Raptors debut yet.

I’m inclined to avoid the whole Knicks backcourt, but if Tim Hardaway Jr. is indeed held out, I would use Allonso Trier with Dotson unlikely to play. Trey Burke could be a good value as well.

DraftKings NBA Forwards:

Joel Embiid has 101.5 DraftKings points in two games against the Knicks so far. The kicker is that he has only played 56 minutes in those two games. Even if Embiid plays, I’m not sure I want to pay for him. The relative lack of value makes it hard to slide down unless FVV, THJ, or Butler sit out. It might be more wise to slide down to Kawhi Leonard, who picked up 48 DraftKings points in the first meeting with Washington. He missed the other game against them.

More from FanSided

This is a smash spot for the Toronto frontcourt against the undersized and injured Wizards. Serge Ibaka is the bigger target since they have actually held Siakam to 54 DraftKings points over the prior two meetings. Ibaka has 65.5 and he is slightly cheaper.

Otto Porter‘s minutes are finally trending to about where they were before he went down, but Porter struggled against Toronto earlier this year anyway. Trevor Ariza is the more sure thing, and they are just about the same price. Even Jeff Green may be safer that Porter still.

The Sixers’ weak spot is power forward, so I’m a big fan of Noah Vonleh today. I also like Luke Kornet a lot for the price and the fact that Kanter is doubtful for this one. That’s a lot of minutes for just $4,200.

I only want Mike Muscala or Wilson Chandler if Embiid sit. Even then, Muscala is really my only interest for Philly up here since they refuse to play Jonah Bolden over Chandler.
