Welcome to a special Sunday edition of NHL DFS Man Advantage! Today is an early lock time of 6pm EST with 5 games on the slate. With 5 of the 10 teams playing on tonight’s slate on the second night of a back to back there could be some tired legs and back up goalies in net, so we will want to monitor those situations later.

As of writing there hasn’t been any goaltenders confirmed to start so I am going with who I believe will be starting based on who started yesterday or how teams usually use their goaltender situation for this NHL DFS slate.

NHL DFS Goalies

Tonight’s top goalie for me is Connor Hellebuyck ($8,300) in a home matchup with the hapless Ducks. Anaheim comes in losers of 10 straight games with their last win coming back on December 17th. Hellebuyck has won 2 of his last 3 starts allowing only 8 goals in that span.

Andrei Vasilevskiy ($8,200) on the road against the Islanders is my second pick in net. New York comes in losing 2 of 3 with both loses coming on home ice, meanwhile Tampa has won 10 of their last 11. Vasilevskiy is 8-1-1 in his last 10 starts and is sporting a 2.88 GAA and a .914 SV%

It looks like you are going to have to pay up in net tonight, for cash games at least, as none of the lower priced goalies are appealing.

Fantasy Hockey

NHL DFS Top Plays

High Tier:

Tampa Bay PP 1st Unit: All 5 of the guys on this unit can be played alone or together as a stack. I will have exposure to 2 or 3 of these guys tonight on small slate like tonight

Nikita Kucherov ($8,100)

Brayden Point ($7,500)

Steven Stamkos ($7,100)

Victor Hedman ($5,900)

Ondrej Palat ($4,200)

Johhny Gaudreau ($7,600)/Sean Monahan($7,400): If you want to limit or fade your exposure to Tampa, which I can understand with how well the Islanders have played, Calgary is the next place to look for some high tier exposure. Both Gaudreau and Monahan, along with linemate Elias Lindolm ($7,000) . In their last 10 games this line has combined for 17 goals and 32 assists, which is insane.  They have a matchup with Arizona who has allowed 16 goals in their last 6 (with one shutout in there) and allowed 6 goals to Calgary in their only matchup this season

Artemi Panarin ($6,600) The Bread Man comes into tonight’s game with 4 goals and an assist in his last 5 games. Panarin has scored the overtime winner in back to back games for the Blue Jackets as well.

Mid Tier:

Kyle Connor ($5,800) – Connor has 3 goals and 3 assists in his last 4 for Winnipeg and gets to face a Duck team who just allowed 7 goals in their last game. Winnipeg’s top line of Connor, Mark Scheifele and Blake Wheeler (both $7,300) make up my 3rd favorite stack of the night.

Keith Yandle ($5,000) – Yandle has been the Panthers best defenseman fantasy wise of late with 3 assists in his last 4 games. Yandle has been averaging 3 FPPG in his last 4 as well.

Alex Galchenyuk ($4,600) – Galchenyuk has 1 goal and 5 assists in his last 3 games during the Coyotes 3 game winning streak as well as averaging 5.5 FPPG. Galchenyuk centers the Yotes 2nd line as well as their first PP unit

Value Tier:

Sven Baertschi ($4,400) – Baertschi has been playing well for the Canucks since Pettersson went down. In his last 4 games Baertschi has 3 goals and an assist in his last 4 games and is averaging 4.6 FPPG

Devon Toews ($3,900) – Toews has cooled of some since his hot start with 2 pointless games against the Rangers this week. Toews is still seen as a top offensive dman for the Islanders and has seen over 17 minutes of ice time per game in his last 3. Toews continues to play on the Islanders 2nd d pair and PP unit

Conor Garland ($3,500) – Garland has been the Coyotes best player of late and it seems some in the NHL DFS world haven’t found him yet (if you read my article yesterday you know I was on him) and DK actually dropped his price by $100 from last night. In his last 4 games Garland has 6 goals and is averaging 6.5 FPPG while playing 3rd line minutes for the Yotes and playing on the teams 2nd PP unit.
