Real Betis face Real Madrid at Estadio Benito Villamarin on Sunday, Jan. 13. Here’s all the info you need to watch.
The first half of the season concludes over the weekend in La Liga. On Sunday, Real Betis host Real Madrid in a battle of two clubs looking to break into the top four spots. Betis are sixth in La Liga with 26 points, four points behind fifth-place Madrid.
Betis lost 2-1 to Huesca in their last game but have picked up 10 points over their last five games. Quique Setien’s squad have a neutral goal differential, scoring and conceding 21 goals this season. Paris Saint-Germain loanee Giovani Lo Celso leads the club with four goals this season. However, Setien will have to make changes to his regular lineup. Left-back Junior Firpo and center-back Sidnei will both miss the game on Sunday with injuries.
Madrid are one point behind Alaves as they look to break into a top-four spot. Santiago Solari’s team have had a poor start to 2019. Madrid lost 2-0 to Real Sociedad and drew with Villarreal last week. Solari will have to again shuffle his lineup as injuries continue to pile up. Toni Kroos suffered an injury last weekend against Real Sociedad and will miss the game against Betis. Kroos will join Gareth Bale and Marco Asensio who were previously injured. While Solari can insert Isco for Kroos, Real Madrid do not have the same options up front with both Bale and Asensio injured. The injuries will place more reliance on Karim Benzema to capitalize on his chances. Benzema leads the club with seven goals this season. Vinicius Junior will likely start on the wing again. The 18-year-old was brought by Madrid in the summer but has struggled to get playing time this season.
