True Detective season 3 begins this week, so find out how to watch True Detective online or live this week, as the HBO series starts a new story with another A-list star.

The new season stars Mahershala Ali, who just won a Golden Globe Award last week for his work portraying Dr. Don Shirley in the critically acclaimed feature Green Book, as a retired detective who thinks a current case may connect to one he worked more than three decades earlier. Ali’s talent will make the season worth watching on its own, but that’s not all the season has going for it.

The season is set in the 1980s, and also features Stephen Dorff as Ali’s former partner. It goes without saying both of them are about to be dragged back into the past, and pulled into something much bigger than anyone could fathom.
