On Sunday, Jan. 13, Nat Geo will be introducing a new series that follows the stories of multiple “tech world figures” titled Valley of the Boom, starring Bradley Whitford and Lamorne Morris.

From afar, this series looks to be a mix between a prestige TV drama and talking-head documentary about the early days of the tech industry.

This might seem like a strange series to have on Net Geo, but it actually looks like it may be a good idea. There are few series that come to mind with this topic (the only one I could actually think of was the HBO comedy Silicon Valley), so Nat Geo is taking a risk and hoping that fans will get hooked due to its niche market.

Few networks do niche better than Nat Geo, so it should be interesting to see how many viewers tune in to the premiere and what kind of buzz Valley of the Boom can get going.
