The Premier League’s most prolific team will hope to put on a show under the lights when they take on Wolves this Monday.
Manchester City have scored a staggering 56 goals through 21 Premier League games, and they show no signs of slowing down. They were able to put nine goals past Burton Albion in the League Cup on Wednesday, and they scored seven against Rotherham in the League Cup on Sunday. As far as the league is concerned, they did themselves a massive favor in their last game by defeating league leaders Liverpool. Only four points separate City and Liverpool going into matchweek 22 of the season, and City could close the gap to one with a win against Wolves.
Wolves are still enjoying a successful first season back in the Premier League, and have an outside chance at playing in Europe next year. They’re currently in ninth place, but a win against City on Monday could put them in seventh. A loss in their last game against Crystal Palace was a small setback, but if they’re able to go to Manchester and surprise the reigning champions, they could be in the midst of a season defining run.
City have been typically dominant at home this season, losing only one of their games at the Etihad this season. That should give them confidence for Monday’s game, but they also shouldn’t overlook Wolves. They haven’t played like a newly promoted team this season, and are also looking for a big win that could set some major events in motion for the second half of the season.
