NHL DFS Man Advantage Monday January 14th
By Matt Vecchio
Welcome to NHL DFS Man Advantage for Monday night January 14th! Tonight is a nice 6 game slate on DraftKings back at the normal 7pm start time. When it comes to goaltending tonight we have an interesting log jam at the $8,000 price range and also one intriguing possible option at $7,200 as well.
There are also some very talented options at the top as usual and but also some good NHL DFS value plays which has been hard to come by on smaller slates like this. I also have more Dmen than usual in this article as well, with a couple in the value section which I really like because my strategy most nights is to play cheap defenders and pay up elsewhere.
NHL DFS Goalies:
My top goalie tonight is Pheonix Copley ($8,000) in a home game against the St. Louis Blues. There is a chance that Holtby starts tonight, but with his eye injury lingering it’s more likely that Copley starts on Monday night and Holtby gets an extra day and starts Tuesday night. Copley is unbeaten in regulation in his last 10 games (9 starts) going 7-0-2 with an impressive 2.42 GAA and .923 SV%
Two other goalies at $8,000 as well are Tuuka Rask hosting Montreal and Devan Dubnyk is in Philadelphia.
Jordan Binnington ($7,200) is probably more of a GPP target tonight against the Caps. Binnington has had a great start to his career going 3-0 in his last 3 and stopped 74 od 76 shots.
NHL DFS Top Individual Plays
High Tier:
Patrick Kane ($7,800) – Chicago has lost 5 of 6, but they have scored 18 goals in that span averaging close to 4 G/G. Patrick Kane has 3 goals in that span and also comes in with 4 straight multi point games (5 game point streak overall) with 10 points in his last 5 games. Kane plays on the Hawks second line with Dylan Strome and Artem Anisimov.
Gabriel Landeskog ($7,100) – The captain of the Av’s, along with his linemates, make up the best line in hockey (in my opinion) which makes them an obvious play every night. Landeskog has 3 goals and 3 assists in his last 4 games.

Leon Draisaitl ($6,800) – There is a small chance that McDavid doesn’t play tonight and if he doesn’t that makes Draisaitl a top play. With McDavid out I would assume that Draisaitl would move up to the top line and also probably pick up 3-4 minutes minimum of the near 24 minutes of ice time that McDavid has been playing recently.
Mid Tier:
Jeff Skinner ($6,300) – Skinner is having the best season of his career with 30 goals (4 th time in his career ) and 14 assists while playing alongside Jack Eichel. Skinner has 4 goals and an assist in his last 5 games and averaging 4.7 FPPG.
Nico Hischier/Alex DeBrincat ($5,800) – Either or both of these guys make for a good play tonight. I like the idea of stacking them together in a mini game stack. Both are relatively inexpensive for the performance they have been putting out. DeBrincat has been more impressive with 4 straight games with a goal and is coming off a 2 goal game against Vegas on Saturday night. As for Hischier he has 3 goals and 2 assists in his last 6 games while centering the Devils top line.
Colton Parayko ($4,500) – Parayko doesn’t rely on points to reach value in fantasy which is good because when he does get on the score sheet he has a big night. Over the last 5 games Parayko is averaging 3.4 FPPG while only collecting 1 assist in those 5 games. Parayko has 16 shots on goal and 14 blocked shots proving that you don’t need to get on the score sheet to help you win in fantasy
Value Tier:
Rasmus Dahlin ($3,900) – Dahlin has 4 assist in the Sabres last 3 games and has 14.5 fantasy points in that span. Aside from racking up the assists in his last 3 games Dahlin has also been peppering the net with 9 SOG in that span as well.
Sean Kuraly ($3,600) – Kuraly is an odd pick because he plays on the Bruins 4th line but has been averaging 15 minutes TOI without playing on a top line or on the PP. Normally I wouldn’t suggest a 4th line player but his minutes have been pretty consistent of late for the B’s. In his last 10 games Kuraly has 4 goals and 3 assists. I wouldn’t suggest stacking him with anyone, except maybe a defensemen, but I prefer him as a one-off play
Brett Kulak ($3,300) – Kulak has played in 22 games for the Habs, but only picked up 1 assists in his first 12 games but has 2 goals and 2 assists in his last 10.
NHL DFS Line Stacks:
St. Louis 3 – VALUE
Washington 2
Minnesota 3 – Hottest line for the Wild right now
Montreal 2
Boston 1 – Always a great play, but especially against a big division rival
