Season 5 of the hit Canadian sitcom Schitt’s Creek is premiering soon on POP TV, and fans of the show are itching to get more episodes from their favorite series.

Most recently, there was a holiday special episode on Dec. 19, but, before that, season 4 ended all the way back in April. Eight months is a long time to wait for anything that isn’t Game of Thrones, but the good news is that the wait is finally over.

While the ratings for season 4 of Schitt’s Creek were not terrible by any means, the ratings when it comes to the coveted 18-49 demographic continued to decline throughout the season — an extremely concerning trend.

TV shows that do not do well in this demographic usually find themselves on the chopping block or with the threat of being canceled looming over their heads, and, unless Schitt’s Creek turns it around, then this could be the case with this series too.

We are a long way away from the surprisingly massive following that Schitt’s Creek initially earned, and the numbers are starting to reflect that. Fans should not be concerned too much (especially because this is a Canadian series on POP TV that still brings well over 250,000 viewers week to week), but it is definitely something to consider.

That being said, the show is still really good. More importantly, Schitt’s Creek is still funny, something that many sitcom-style shows tend to struggle with after a run this long.
