Welcome to NHL DFS Man Advantage for Friday night January 18th! Tonight we have another 7 game slate to work with tonight. This slate is similar to last night in that we have some great top end talent to choose from on the ice, but unlike last night, the goaltending situations leave a little to be desired

Like I said above we get some of the top teams, like Toronto & Calgary, as well as some of the best players in the world, like Sidney Crosby & Alexander Ovechkin on tonight’s NHL DFS slate.

NHL DFS Goalies

Tonight I don’t really have a goalie I feel strongly enough about to make a “top choice” play, but nonetheless I will still give you a few goalies I am interested in playing.

My first choice is Matt Murray ($8,100) in a road contest with the Arizona Coyotes. Murray has been exceptional since returning from injury in late 2018. Murray had won 9 in a row before losing on Saturday night to San Jose. In last ten, Murray has a GAA of 1.180 and a SV% of .945 and 2 shutouts.

Sergei Bobrvosky at home against ($8,300 )Montreal, and my last choice in net is David Rittich ($8,400) hosting Detroit.

NHL DFS Top Individual Players:

High Tier

Alexander Ovechkin ($7,900) – Ovechkin is having a very un-Ovechkin like season thus far with only 52 points in 46 games this season, but he has started to turn it on a bit of late. In his last 4 games Ovi has 3 goals and 2 assists and 14 SOG.

Mitch Marner ($7,200) – Marner is having a MVP like season this year playing alongside John Tavares this season. Including last night, Marner now has goals in 4 straight games. In 2 games against the Panthers this season Marner has 3 goals and 2 assists on 6 SOG.

Mark Giordano ($6,600) – Over his last 5 games Giordano has 3 goals and 6 assists and has played over 23 minutes per game with the exception of one game (1/13 vs Ari) where he played 20 minutes.

Mid Tier

Thomas Chabot ($6,100) – Chabot returned from injury on Monday after missing 8 games due to his injury and he wasted no time getting back on the scoresheet. The defenseman played limited minutes (18:20) Wednesday, but should get back into the 20-25 minute per game range once he gets his legs under him.

Brendan Gallagher ($5,500) – Gallagher has 4 goals in his last 5 games on 18 SOG while averaging over 15 minutes of TOI. Gallagher is playing on the Habs top line with Phillip Danault and Jonathan Drouin and plays on the 2nd PP unit.

Frank Vatrano ($4,900) – In his last 4 games Vatrano has 2 goals and an assist while also averaging over 3 FPPG. Vatrano has been playing on the Panthers top line of late with Aleksander Barkov and Evgenii Dadonov and also on the 2nd PP unit.

Value Tier

Josh Anderson ($4,300) – Anderson comes into tonight’s game with 3 assists in his last 4 games and 4.25 FPPG for the Blue Jackets. In his career against Montreal (5 games) Anderson has 3 goals and 2 assists.

Evan Rodrigues ($3,900) – Rodrigues has goals in back to back games and also 4 points ( 2 g 2 a ) in his last 5 games as well. Rodrigues has been relegated back to 3rd line duties, centering Jason Pominville and Vladimir Sobotka. 

Saku Maenalanen ($2,800) – Maenalanen was recalled by Carolina on January 1 and in 9 game since has 4 goals and an assist, including 3 goals in his last 2 games.While he isn’t playing a ton of minutes he is definitely making the most of the minutes he does get . Currently he is not being shown on the Hurricanes lines for Fridays game, so I will definitely monitor those lines in the AM after morning skate and see what happens with Maenalanen.
