College basketball rankings: Week 12 AP Top 25 predictions
Week 12 will see plenty of movement in college basketball’s AP Top 25.
Each season has a week or two of action where a few top-five teams fall and it sends shockwaves through the entire college basketball landscape.
That was Week 11.
We saw the No. 1 team in the country — Duke — fall to unranked Syracuse at home. It was a shocking defeat, to be sure, but the Blue Devils got a second chance with No. 4-ranked Virginia coming to Durham on Saturday night. It was an epic top-five battle and it ended with a two-point victory for Duke, avenging the home loss earlier in the week.
As for Virginia, that was its first loss of the season, but it should drop all that far seeing as the Cavaliers were competitive against Duke on the road and smacked in-state rival Virginia Tech, the No. 9 team in the country, earlier in the week.
That left one remaining unbeaten team in the top-five, but Michigan, too, suffered a tough loss on the road to lose that perfect record. The Wolverines couldn’t overcome a late surge by the Wisconsin Badgers, losing by 10 on the road. Could Wisconsin jump into the AP Top 25 with the win or is the Big Ten still just too hard to judge?
While the top five may look different, there were a few teams, including Texas Tech and Kansas, in the top-10 which suffered losses as well. Six teams in the top-10 dropped in Week 11 and the rankings will be shuffled accordingly.
