Marcus Peters tries to fight Sean Payton after NFC Championship
By Tyler Brooke
Los Angeles Rams cornerback Marcus Peters had something to say to Saints head coach Sean Payton after winning the NFC Championship on Sunday.
Sunday’s NFC Championship game between the Los Angeles Rams and New Orleans Saints lived up to all of the hype.
So did the beef between Rams cornerback Marcus Peters and Saints head coach Sean Payton.
What has started to become known as the “Gumbo Beef” started back in November after the Saints took down the Rams in an exciting regular-season matchup. Payton talked about how much he liked the mismatch of Peters on wide receiver Michael Thomas, and the Rams cornerback was not thrilled with those comments.
After the Rams hit the game-winning field goal in overtime on Sunday, Peters made sure to try and find Payton on the field share some choice words.

If we’re being honest, Peters did not have his best game on Sunday, either. There were a handful of plays in the game where he was caught on an island and gave up some big receptions.
That didn’t matter too much to Peters after the game, however, because the Rams are the ones heading to the Super Bowl in Atlanta and the Saints aren’t. Peters probably just wanted to make sure that Payton was reminded about that after the game.
It’s not every day we see a rivalry between a head coach and an opposing player, but everyone on Twitter is very much about this beef. Hopefully the feud between these two continues into next season.
