Kansas City Chiefs: Re-sign Edge Dee Ford

The Kansas City Chiefs were the dominant team in the AFC in 2018, as they finished the year with the best record in the conference. Of course, the Los Angeles Chargers also finished with a 12-4 record, but the Chiefs locked up the No. 1 seed by winning the tiebreaker, and got to have home field advantage throughout the playoffs.

The Chiefs were not without their controversies in 2018, as they lost star running back Kareem Hunt after a video surfaced of him kicking a woman. Still, they charged on as a team, and even though they had their struggles late in the season, they got it together to come away as the kinds of the AFC West.

Heading into next season, the Chiefs have to make sure they keep their playmakers on defense, as the unit as a whole was pretty poor in 2018. One player they cannot afford to lose is Dee Ford, and the first order of business this offseason has to be making sure they keep Ford in the fold for the long run.

With Patrick Mahomes under center, this Chiefs team has an opportunity to be very good, for a very long time. However, if they do not get more consistent play from their defense, they will be in too many shootouts, and it is very hard to win Super Bowl when you only get effort on one side of the ball.
