Utah Jazz

Sending out: Derrick Favors (NYK), Ricky Rubio (MIN)

Bringing in:Ā Mike Conley Jr. (MEM)

This is a risky move for the Utah Jazz, sending out two key rotation players for a veteran point guard with a big contract. However, Utah has to find a way to juice up their offense if they’re going to take the next step and Conley is a huge upgrade over Rubio, without giving back much of anything on the defensive end.

There are a few lineups with Gobert and Favors together that have worked for Utah this year, but trading Favors pushes Utah more firmly towards playing small with Jae Crowder at the 4. This places a lot more responsibility on Ekpe Udoh and Georges Niang to step into bigger roles off the bench, but both have been impressive in the past.

Donovan Mitchell was a bolt of lightning for the Jazz but they may not get another chance to add a player as good as Conley who fits their needs as seamlessly.
