NBA Trade Deadline 2019: The 30-team mega-deal that solves nothing and makes everyone mad
By Ian Levy

Washington Wizards
Sending out: John Wall (PHX), Otto Porter Jr. (PHI), Troy Brown Jr. (TOR)
Bringing in: Ivan Rabb (MEM), Henry Ellenson (DET), Gorgui Dieng (MIN), Ryan Anderson (PHX), Mario Hezonja (NYK), Damian Jones (GSW)
This trade unequivocally makes the Washington Wizards worse. They’re sending out two of their three best players for a trade package that features, I don’t know, Gorgui Dieng, I guess? But the truth is, the Wizards are going nowhere fast and taking on the next few years of Dieng’s ugly contract is far preferable to spending a bajillion dollars to watch John Wall stand around, seething and shaking his head at the officials. Shipping out Otto Porter Jr. is tough, especially without a pick coming back, but that’s the cost of getting someone else to take on Wall’s deal.

On the plus side, the Wizards keep Bradley Beal, get a few interesting young players to audition and, potentially, cut as much as $35 million off their cap commitments just for next season. They have their own pick in the draft and can go out and start throwing money around again as soon as this summer.
