The Duke Blue Devils go on the road again in ACC play, looking to further assert their dominance as they take on the Pittsburgh Panthers.
Though the Duke Blue Devils tripped up against Syracuse, they answered any questions about them this past weekend. The talk of the college basketball world has been this team throughout the season and they showed why as they handed a stout Virginia team their first loss on the 2018-19 season. Now Coach K’s team goes on the road to face Jeff Capel and the Pittsburgh Panthers.
Capel, a former Duke assistant, is certainly familiar with the Blue Devils. What’s more, his team has a solid 12-6 mark on the regular season. However, they have gone 2-3 to start ACC play, though that has come against big-time competition in the conference with losses to Syracuse, NC State and North Carolina.
As for this Duke team, the story for them remains playing without Tre Jones. Zion Williamson and RJ Barrett stepped up big to topple the Cavaliers this past weekend, but playing without their star freshman point guard is a tough look for the Blue Devils.

In truth, Pittsburgh isn’t in the same category as this Blue Devils team when it comes to talent. Then again, with a coach who’s familiar and a group of talented players and Coach K’s group on the road, anything is possible.

Duke undeniably passed some massive tests over the past couple of weeks, and Pittsburgh shouldn’t be at the same level. Having said that, coming down from those games can be dangerous, especially for a young and still short-handed Blue Devils team facing a former coach. Keep an eye on Pitt on Tuesday night to make some noise.
