Denver Broncos are very interested in drafting Drew Lock

Badly in need of a franchise quarterback, John Elway and the Broncos appear to be zeroing in on Missouri’s Drew Lock.

Drew Lock might not be the biggest quarterback name in this year’s draft class, but the Denver Broncos are hoping he’s the best.

At least, they’re doing some due diligence to find out as much as they can ahead of this April’s draft.

Multiple NFL sources at the Senior Bowl indicated that the Broncos are interested in drafting Missouri senior quarterback Drew Lock to be the team’s next franchise quarterback.

One of those sources said that Denver General Manager John Elway has become enamored with the 6-foot-4, 225-pound Lock not only because of his playing ability, but also because of Lock’s presence and leadership. Lock threw 99 touchdown passes and 39 interceptions during his four years at Missouri, including 72 TD passes and 21 interceptions over his final two seasons.

The Broncos have the No. 10 overall pick in the draft in April and have been looking for a franchise quarterback since Peyton Manning retired following the 2015 season and Denver’s victory in Super Bowl 50. The team drafted Paxton Lynch in the first round of the 2016 draft, but cut him after two seasons, signing Case Keenum to a two-year, $36 million deal before the 2018 season. The design of the two-year deal was to give the Broncos time to find their next franchise quarterback.
