Welcome to NHL DFS Man Advantage for Tuesday night January 22nd! Tonight we have a very small Tuesday slate with only 5 games for us to delve into. I am going to start by saying the goaltending on this slate is atrocious, and that’s being kind. When Craig Anderson or whoever is in-goal for the Oilers are the top options, you can tell what kind of night it’s going to be. I will probably end up paying down for goalie tonight and spend big money on my offense. I know the Islanders on the slate and their goalies have been playing well, as has the entire team, but they’re playing the Blackhawks who are averaging 3.7 goals per game in their last ten and just put up 8 on the Capitals on Sunday.

Tonight’s NHL DFS schedule (All times EST)

7pm:

San Jose @ Washington

7:30pm:

Arizona @ Ottawa

8:30pm:

NY Islanders @ Chicago

9pm:

Detroit @ Edmonton

Carolina @ Calgary

NHL DFS Goalies:

My top goalie tonight is, gulp, Craig Anderson ($7,900) in a home matchup with the Coyotes tonight. Anderson played well in his return from injury on Saturday but took a hard luck loss to St Louis. In his first game in nearly a month Anderson stopped 35 of 38 shots and earned 4 DKFP in a loss, which is actually a pretty good night. Arizona is ranked 28 in the league with 2.63 GF/G this season and is averaging 3.2 in their last 5 games.

I am expecting Aaron Dell ($7,300) to start on Tuesday against the Capitals after Jones started on Monday night in Florida. Dell made 55 saves on 61 shots in previous two starts (1-1) and earned 8 DKFP combined in those two starts. Washington comes in losers of 5 straight and have only scored 9 goals in that span. If it’s Jones who gets the nod he is a fine start as well.

Whoever starts in net for Edmonton on Tuesday is a viable option in a winnable situation against Detroit. David Rittich ($8,200) is also an option playing Carolina who average a league most 35.8 SF/G.

NHL DFS Top Forwards:

Top Tier:

Patrick Kane ($8,000) – I know the Islanders are the hottest team in the league right now and are playing great defensively and getting great goaltending, but Kane is just on another level and he cannot be stopped right now. Kane is averaging 2.3 REAL points per game in his last 10, that is just insane. In his last 5 games Kane is averaging 9.2 FPPG (with 2 games at 14.5 fantasy points ). One way to help fit Kane in to your lines up is by pairing him with his PP linemate, Dylan Strome ($4,800). Strome has been reaping the benefits of playing with Kane, in his last 3 games Strome has 1 goal and 4 assists.

Sebastian Aho ($7,000) – Coming into Tuesday nights contest with Calgary, Aho has 5 goals and 4 assists in the Canes last 5 games and is averaging 6.9 FPPG. Aho has recently gotten some new linemates in team captain Justin Williams ($5,200) and the newly acquired Nino Niederreiter ($4,600) on the Canes top line. Niederreiter had 2 goals for the Canes in their last game, his second as a member of the team, and has 4 goals and an assist in his last 5.

Elias Lindholm ($6,700) – Lindholm plays on one of the best lines in all of hockey along with Sean Monahan ($7,400) and Johnny Gaudreau ($7,700). This line is my top line stack of the night as well, but I wanted to focus on Lindholm because I rarely single him out, but he deserves it. Lindholm has 1 goal and 8 assists during his current 7 game point streak and averaging just a tad under 4 FPPG. This is also a revenge game for Lindholm as he was traded away from Carolina in the offseason and you know he’d love to show them it was a mistake to do so.

Mid Tier:

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins ($6,100) – RNH comes into Tuesday night riding a 5 game point streak with 2 goals and 5 assists in that span. During his 5 game point streak RNH is averaging 5.3 FPPG which is a point and half higher than his season average.

Clayton Keller ($5,100) – Keller has been playing his best hockey of the season of late with 2 goals and 2 assists in the Yotes last 5 games. Over that same span Keller also has over 4 SOG per game and 3.7 FPPG. Keller plays on the Coyotes 2nd line and on the top PP unit for the Coyotes.

Brandon Saad ($4,600) – Saad is playing on the Blackhawks 3rd line but is still seeing over 16 minutes of TOI in his 3 game goal scoring streak. Also, in his last 5 games against the Islanders Saad has 1 goal and 2 assists.

Value Tier:

Joe Thornton ($4,200) – Joe Thornton may be on the back-end of his illustrious career but he is still producing at a high level for the Sharks. Coming into tonight’s game Thornton has 2 goals and 2 assists in his last 5 games. Thornton is still centering the team’s top line as well.

Thomas Vanek ($4,000) – Well, the calendar has turned to 2019 but for some reason I am writing about Thomas Vanek. Vanek comes into tonight’s matchup with Edmonton riding a 4 game point streak where he has 3 goals and 3 assists and is averaging neear 6 FPPG during his point streak. Anthony Mantha ($4,800) plays with Vanek on the Wings second line and has been playing well of late as well and makes a good low-owned stack tonight.

Cal Clutterbuck ($2,900) – When going through the Islanders roster looking for players to write-up for tonight nobody really stood out, which is odd for a team winning 5 straight, but then I stumbled across Clutterbuck. Clutterbuck has scored 4 goals in his last 5 games, including 3 goals in the last 2 games. I am not sure how long this hot streak will last for but it should be able to continue against a leaky defense and poor goaltending team like the Blackhawks

GLENDALE, ARIZONA – DECEMBER 22: Alex Goligoski #33 of the Arizona Coyotes skates with the puck during the NHL game against the Colorado Avalanche at Gila River Arena on December 22, 2018 in Glendale, Arizona. The Coyotes defeated the Avalanche 6-4. (Photo by Christian Petersen/Getty Images)

NHL DFS Top Defensemen:

Pay up Dman:

Mark Giordano ($6,600) – Giordano is coming in on a 7 game point streak during which he has amassed 5 goals and 8 assists. Giordano is one the best dmen in the league and a front-runner for the Norris trophy.

Others to pay up for: Thomas Chabot ($6,100), Oliver Ekman-Larsson ($5,000)

Pay down Dman:

Alex Goligoski ($3,800) – Goligoski is a shot blocking machine and has been racking up the fantasy points. In his last 5 games Goligoski has 18 blocked shots and is averaging just under 3 FPPG while only picking up 2 assist in that span.

Others to pay down for: Danny DeKeyeser ($3,600), Jonas Siegenthaler ($2,500)
