The Washington Redskins struggled after losing Alex Smith to injury, as they had to trot out guys like Josh Johnson and Mark Sanchez. Sure, they had some bright spots this past season, but losing Smith was devastating, as they looked to be headed to an NFC East title with him under center.

Unfortunately, the injury pretty much ended their season, and it could be the kind of injury that ends Smith’s career. Smith was recently spotted at a Washington Wizards game with some huge apparatus on his leg, so the comeback for him will likely be a long one if he can make it back to the team.

With their first round pick in April, Washington should look to add a quarterback, and Drew Lock from Missouri would be a great fit at No. 15. Lock has an incredible arm, has the perfect size for the NFL game, and spent the last few years shredding SEC defenses, widely regarded as the best in college football.

Washington has the talent to be a contender in the NFC East, and they led the division for the first half of the season. They have a lot of holes to fill and could go a number of ways in the draft, but the Smith injury is more than concerning, and Lock has the makings of being a legitimate NFL starter.
