The Kansas City Chiefs were plenty of people’s first choice to represent the AFC in the Super Bowl this season, as they got a legendary effort from quarterback Patrick Mahomes. In his first full season as the team’s starter, Mahomes threw for over 5,000 yards and 50 touchdowns, leading the Chiefs to the No. 1 overall seed in the AFC.

After having a bye during the Wild Card round, and thrashing the Indianapolis Colts in the Divisional Round, the Chiefs welcomed the New England Patriots to Arrowhead Stadium. Unfortunately, they had no answer for Tom Brady late, and the Patriots ended up beating the Chiefs in overtime.

Still, this is a team that is going to be good for a very long time. The defense, however, was the team’s issue in 2018 and will have to get better if they are ever going to get over that hump and dethrone Brady and company for supremacy in the AFC.

Staying with the defense, the Chiefs need help in the secondary and could look to target a guy like Trayvon Mullen from Clemson this late in round one. Mullen was the best cornerback on the field during the national championship game, improving his draft status, and could go even higher with a good showing at his pro day, and at the combine.
