High Salary SG

Players costing over $6,667

Klay Thompson (at BOS – $7,300): Needs 31.3 fantasy points. Thompson was down to 17.7 fantasy points against the Wizards on Jan. 24. That’s always a risk with Thompson is that when he’s not shooting the ball well, he’s not doing enough in other categories to make up that value. But the shots will always be there for him. Diagnosis: A slight risk just because his value is so tied to his scoring. But a high ceiling given the shots he gets.

CJ McCollum (vs ATL – $6,800): Needs 29.2 fantasy points. I love the way McCollum is playing right now and the Hawks are obviously a great matchup because they play with pace and also aren’t very good. The only concern in this one is that he could end up being a blowout and if that’s the case, McCollum might not do quite enough to give you value. But he’ll produce even in limited minutes. Diagnosis: Reliable with a good ceiling if the game is competitive.

Marcus Smart (vs GS – $4,900): Needs 21 fantasy points. What a drop. It could be a rough night at shooting guard with all of the injuries and question marks. But I do not question Smart in this game. This is just one of those “Marcus Smart games” where his defense will allow him to log big minutes and he’ll do a little bit of everything just to annoy the Warriors. Diagnosis: Reliable at this salary with a good ceiling.
