Both the Auburn Tigers and the Mississippi State Bulldogs are trying to bounce back from disappointing road losses. The Bulldogs get the advantage of playing this game at home in Humphrey Coliseum.
Things didn’t go so well for Ben Howland and the Mississippi State Bulldogs the last time they took the court. When the Bulldogs faced off against the Kentucky Wildcats, Mississippi State lost by 21 points, by far State’s worst loss of the season. MSU looked horrific on the road in Lexington. Now, the Bulldogs are looking to get things back on track.
However, Mississippi State isn’t the only team involved in this game that’s looking for some redemption after some recent frustrating losses. The Auburn Tigers will arrive in Starkville after losing to Kentucky and South Carolina in back-to-back games.
Auburn and Mississippi State both have a good amount of potential this season, but both have appeared to be underwhelming at times. This game is a great opportunity for either team to get moving in the right direction once again and build some momentum for a possible run down the stretch of the season.
That said, only one of these teams will come out on top. The Tigers don’t want to extend their losing streak out to three games. The Bulldogs are hoping to get back to .500 against fellow Southeastern Conference teams. Only one team will win though.

The Bulldogs will have the advantage of playing at home, but there’s a very real possibility that this home court advantage starts dwindling a bit. The Mississippi State men’s basketball team could really use a win here to help start convincing fans to come back out to the games.
Auburn enters into this game with a higher ranking and a chip on its shoulder as the Tigers have lost their last two games by a combined five points. Both teams have something they’d love to prove, but Auburn might be in a better situation to do just that.
