Disclaimer: Every basketball parlay in this series is going to be a simple 4-legger. A 4-leg basketball parlay is RISKY so approach with caution and avoid tossing full unit bets on these picks.

With that said, who doesn’t want to toss down a little basketball parlay that can pay you out exponentially more money? After all, sports betting is supposed to be fun. Why not live a little?

Last night’s parlay didn’t go as expected out of the gate with Duke coming out incredibly stale in the first half. While they did dominate in the 2nd, it simply wasn’t enough to cover the massive point spread. With that said, today’s a new day with a short but sweet slate of games in the NBA and NCAA.

Basketball Parlay of the Day

  • Michigan State Spartans (-2.5) @ Purdue Boilermakers
  • Rhode Island Rams (-3) @ UMass Minutemen
  • Milwaukee Bucks (+1.5) @ Oklahoma City Thunder
  • Miami Heat (-5) @ New York Knicks

Michigan State Spartans vs Purdue Boilermakers – 1:00pm ET

This Michigan State team is one of Tom Izzo’s most well rounded teams to date. Although they play a similar style of gritty basketball compared to Tom Izzo teams of years past, this version of the Spartans offers a much more well-rounded offensive attack. Led by the three headed monster of Cassius Winston, Nick Ward, and Joshua Langford; the Spartans have a wealth of offensive playmakers they can turn to when things get tough.

Purdue on the other hand is simply a well-rounded basketball team. They don’t necessarily excel in any one aspect, but instead play solid team defense and rely on guard Carsen Edwards to create most of their offense. When Carsen is on, the Boilermakers are a threat to take down any team in the nation.

The Spartans absolutely rolled the Boilermakers on their home court last time around and held Edwards in check to the tune of 11 points. Although Edwards can readily create offense against most teams the Boilermakers face, the Spartan defense is another beast altogether and has shown they can make life tough on even the best players in the nation. Look for Michigan State to continue their winning ways on the road against Purdue while covering the meager spread.

Rhode Island Rams vs UMass Minutemen – 2:00pm ET

After dropping a game against underrated George Mason, the Rams have rattled off a very solid 3 game win streak to get themselves back on track. Guards Jeff Dowtin, Fatts Russell and big man Cyril Langevine are the heart of the Rams team. Between the three, they create the majority of the offense for the team as well as force turnovers on the defensive side of the ball.

UMass on the other hand has been inept since starting conference play. Luwane Pipkins has been the lone bright spot on the Minutemen squad this year. With no other real offense outside of Pipkins, the Minutemen simply don’t have the talent or firepower to hang with any halfway decent program.

Rhode Island is just the better team here. Despite taking to the road, they boast a deeper backcourt, stronger frontcourt, and a roster built by one of the best coaches/recruiters in Dan Hurley. Although Hurley no longer coaches the Rams, his fingerprints are all over this team and it shows in the talent discrepancy.

Basketball Parlay Pick #2: Rhode Island Rams (-2)

Basketball Parlay of the Day: Sunday, January 27th

Milwaukee Bucks vs Oklahoma City Thunder – 6:00pm ET

Milwaukee is scorching hot right now behind the MVP caliber play of Giannis Antetokounmpo. Sitting atop the Eastern Conference, the Bucks are 8-2 over their last 10 games (with one of those two losses coming off a back to back). Outside of Antetokounmpo, the Bucks roll out an extremely deep and talented supporting cast that fits seamlessly playing off their MVP.

Oklahoma City has been equally hot as of late behind a run of incredible performances from Paul George. While Russell Westbrook continues to stuff the stat sheet, the play of George and big man Steven Adams has been the key to the Thunder’s recent success.

The Bucks and Thunder have yet to meet up on the year, so this should be an extremely interesting and fun matchup. Steven Adams in particular is going to be a problem down low for the Bucks, but they have shown the ability to dominate teams despite the lack of a capable rebounding big man (looking at you Brook Lopez). This should be a close one throughout, but look for the Bucks to continue their run and showcase why they’re the pride of the Eastern Conference.

Miami Heat vs New York Knicks – 7:30pm ET

Despite their recent struggles, I am still all over the Heat. Justice Winslow has been a revelation on both sides of the ball this year as the catalyst for this Heat team. Although they’ve dropped some very winnable games recently, the still own some very solid wins over Houston, Milwaukee, and Boston in recent weeks. The Heat are a mercurial team without a doubt, but tend to feast on the league’s bottom feeders.

The Knicks are a very bad basketball team. More than their on the court performance, the team is a mess behind the scenes. With veteran center Enes Kanter first receiving a string of DNP’s and subsequently coming out demanding either to be played or traded, the Knicks are just as big a mess in the locker room as they are on the court.

The Heat demolished the Knicks by over 20 points in the last matchup this season and the Knicks are actively trying to lose games. For a while, the Knicks made a habit of battling hard and losing in tightly contested affairs. Now however, they find themselves getting blown out of the water on most nights. Look for the Heat to dominate the Knicks (who clearly care more about landing Zion than actually winning this season).

Total Payout: +1200
