5. Rodger Saffold, LG Los Angeles Rams

Adding a veteran, versatile offensive lineman should be high on the shopping list for the Jets. Current Los Angeles Ram, Rodger Saffold, may be 30 years old, but he would be a viable addition.

Over the past three seasons, Saffold has primarily played at the left guard position. However, he has moved around and has played at left tackle and right guard during his career.

Although, Saffold’s value as an interior offensive lineman at left guard would help the Jets solidify what has been an inconsistent group. The team has cycled many names through the team’s offensive line. Outside of Kelvin Beachum, it has been a lot of mixing and matching when it has come to this unit.

Saffold would ensure that the Jets have a reliable player on that ever so important offensive line. His cost may not be too high either. Acquiring his services won’t be cheap, but getting Saffold into the green and white also won’t require an Andrew Norwell type salary either.

It’s imperative that the Jets can surround Darnold with protection, and Saffold would help keep him off his back and help the run game as well.  Band-aiding the unit has gone on too long.
