NBA Trade Deadline 2019: One trade every team should make
By Daniel Lewis
If the Sixers decide to move Butler, sending him to one of his preferred destinations in Miami seems like a nice fit. Butler takes along former No. 1 overall pick Markelle Fultz, who will get a chance to rehab his shoulder injury with the fine medical staff in Florida. Butler would have the opportunity to scout the franchise from the inside for a time before he decides what to do as a free agent in the offseason. I can’t think of a better match for Butler than Pat Riley, who demands greatness from everyone around him.
For Philadelphia, getting a couple rotation players in exchange for Butler helps them prepare for the playoffs again. They’ll have a tough time in the postseason executing in the halfcourt, but adding a player that can launch 3-pointers in Ellington could help them supplement JJ Redick’s floor spacing. Waiters is also a player that could thrive in his hometown and has never seen a defense that could prevent him from getting to the rim.
