Super Bowl 53: Prop bet pool sheets
The New England Patriots and Los Angeles Rams will collide in Super Bowl LIII at Atlanta. Props to those who want to put a few dollars down on these bets.
For the third straight year and the fourth time in five seasons, the New England Patriots will be playing on Super Bowl Sunday. Led by the duo of head coach Bill Belichick and quarterback Tom Brady, the league’s reigning dynasty is looking to make it six Lombardi Trophies overall and a third in five years.
Of course, if the Pats are involved, rest assured it will be a tight game. This marks the ninth such contest for the legendary combo. Win or lose, all previous eight contests were close and came down to the final moments.
Just to recap: The Patriots won Super Bowls XXXVI (3), XXXVIII (3), XXXIX (3), XLIX (4) and LI (6) by a combined 19 points. They lost Super Bowls XLII (3), XLVI (4) and LII (8) – two to the New York Giants and a year ago to the Philadelphia Eagles – by a combined 15 points. As this goes to press, New England is a 2.5-point favorite to knock off the NFC champions Los Angeles Rams at Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
Yes, there will be plenty of money bet on the outcome of the game in terms of the point spread and the over/under (57). But what about those prop bets. And the staff at OddsShark.com have put together quite the comprehensive list.
So who will be the Most Valuable Player of Super Bowl LIII? Obviously, Brady (+110) is the favorite having earned those honors four times previously. It’s also worth noting that a quarterback has been named Super Bowl MVP on 29 occasions. How about Rob Gronkowski grabbing the honors? In 52 previous Super Bowls, a tight end has never been named the contest’s Most Valuable Player.
Which team will win the coin toss? Will it be heads or tails? What about which team scores first and who scores the first touchdown of the game. But just when you thought those were pretty mundane, there are some fascinating options.
How many times will the broadcast mention Sean McVay’s age? How long will it take for Gladys Knight to sing the U.S. National Anthem? There’s even long range bets asking whether the winning team will eventually visit the White House.
Sounds like fun. And once again lots of money will be changing hands on Super Sunday by both football fans and even though not really interested in the outcome of the game.
