Arsenal faces Cardiff at Emirates Stadium on Tuesday, Jan. 29. Here’s all the info you need to watch.
Following weekend FA Cup games, the Premier League returns with games on Tuesday. Arsenal host Cardiff at Emirates Stadium in a game between clubs at opposite ends of the table. The Gunners are fifth, three points behind Chelsea for a spot in the Champions League. While the Bluebirds are 18th with only 19 points. However, most of the news surrounding the club is the disappearance of striker Emiliano Sala. The plane that Sala was traveling in went missing and there are no presummed survivors.
Arsenal were eliminated from the FA Cup after losing 3-1 against Manchester City on Friday. Unai Emery’s team beat Chelsea 2-0 in their last Premier League game but have struggled in league play lately. Over their last five games, Arsenal have picked up only seven points. The Gunners will rely on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette to lead the attack against Cardiff. Aubameyang is second in the Premier League with 14 goals, while Lacazette has scored eight goals. Arsenal will need one of their two strikers to score on Tuesday if they are going to pick up all three points against the Bluebirds.
Cardiff lost 3-0 against Newcastle in their last Premier League game and have not won since beating Leicester on Dec. 29. Neil Warnock’s team were a popular pick to be relegated this season but they could avoid relegation. Cardiff are only two points behind the safety zone. If the Bluebirds are going to avoid relegation, they will need to improve their defense after allowing 44 goals in their first 23 games. If Cardiff are going to steal a point from Arsenal, they will need a goal from Callum Paterson, who leads the club with four goals this season.
