2. Texas vs LSU

Two teams that had surprisingly good seasons face off in this early season non-conference match-up. The Texas Longhorns will play host to the Louisiana State University Tigers as two teams with high hopes for their season come into this match-up looking to take an early advantage in strengthening their playoff resume.

Texas quarterback Sam Ehlinger confidently declared Texas as ā€œbackā€ after their Sugar Bowl win over Georgia at the end of last season, and they will come into this season expecting big things. This will be Texas’ first chance to back up that statement in the young season, as they take on a loaded LSU team that, despite losing a lot of talent to the 2019 NFL Draft, comes in locked and loaded.

This could be the best Texas team we’ve seen in quite some time, and this will be a match-up of epic proportions, as an elite offense takes on an LSU defense which is still expected to be stellar, paired with a revamped LSU offense behind second-year starter Joe Burrow.

Both teams come in with a significantly well-rated recruiting class and have faced off in many tough recruiting battles in the past year, and throughout their respective program histories. They will be looking to state their case for being a College Football Playoff team early in the year. The only thing that could get better about the match-up between these two teams, which both won New Years Six bowls last year, is that this border battle will be played in a packed and rowdy Texas stadium.
