Welcome back readers of FantasyCPR, we are back with Waste Management Open PGA DFS DraftKings Plays. This tournament overlaps with the Super Bowl and will be a very fun one to watch with all the potential swings down the stretch of the course. Let’s dive in!

PGA DFS The Course:

Located in Scottsdale, Arizona the Par 71 7,266 -yard course competes head-to-head with it’s final round happening on Super Bowl Sunday. TPC Scottsdale is a very exciting event to watch with the 15th, 16th, 17th and 18th hole being probably the best four hole stretch to end the golf tournament. This course, is going to have some decently low-rounds, with three par 5’s all reachable in two shots and they have a drivable par 4 on the 17th hole. The 16th hole is a par 3 that the entire crowd gathers to watch as there is 20,000 seats for fans to watch this hole.

Core Stats for me here are going to be par-5 scoring, driving distance, strokes gained approach and opportunities gained.

PGA DFS The Plays:

Jon Rahm ($11,500)

I do not believe that Jon Rahm is going to get played this week. I listen to a lot of content and a lot of people are playing Hideki Matsuyama because of his course history, it’s the best I’ve ever seen. Everything I am reading this week, has Justin Thomas as the clear pivot to Hideki and I am not hearing anything about Jon Rahm. Rahm has three straight top-10 finishes and he’s closing in on a win. As the odd’s on favorite (7/1) to win the event, I think Rahm is going to come in at sub-20% ownership. Justin Thomas and Hideki are both decent plays this week, but I’m playing Rahm as the course sets up well for him and he went to college at Arizona State. Rahm is looking for the breakthrough win at this event, posting 2 top-20 finishes along with a top-5.

Tony Finau ($9,500)

Price decrease, not low-owned but lower-owned for Finau due to poor course history. Finau finished in the top-20 last week at Torrey Pines and putted poorly. Look for him to bounce back this week and compete again once he gets the putter rolling. Finau gained a total of 7.9 strokes gained last week and 4.4 stokes gained on approach, which is a core stat for us this week. I want Finau in my lineups once again, could pay us off with a huge top-5 as the recent form looks strong.

Webb Simpson ($9,700)

Simpson is a tournament only play for me as he is priced above Finau and I prefer Finau in every format. However, Webb, has four top 10’s here in eight years. Webb has the capabilities to get hot with his putter and go really low especially on bermuda greens. The one draw back is that I wish he was a little bit cheaper, because we just haven’t seen him much this season as he’s taken the last three weeks off.

Daniel Berger ($8,200)

Berger is recovering from his wrist injury however, I think he’s gaining some form despite the missed cut last week. At Torrey Pines he shot a 75 on the South Course last week and then followed it up with a 69 on the North Course. At the Desert Classic, Berger flashed a top-12 posting all four rounds under 70. The course history is also really strong here, as Berger has posted a 11th, 7th, 58th and a 10th. He has never missed a cut here. I think Berger is going to go over looked and I want to be on while others are running from it.

Zach Johnson ($7,800)

ZJ was on everyone’s board here last year at a price that was steeper than this and now we get him at a discount. I love Zach Johnson this week, as we know the course history, know that he is going to make the cut and ZJ can score. The last four years he’s posted a 57th, 12th, 14th and a top-10. I think a lot of people are scared about the miss cut a few weeks back but ZJ doesn’t miss a lot of cuts and his game fits well here.

Taylor Gooch ($7,500)

Nobodys playing better than Gooch right now, with a 3rd and 4th place finish over the last two weeks. Gooch has never played here kind of feel like this could be the week it all falls down. Gooch is a cast game play for me this week as I think he is going to be popular and he should make the cut, I just wouldn’t expect a top1-0 finish.

PGA DFS Punts to Consider:

Trey Mullinax ($6,700)

Brian Gay ($6,700)

Rory Sabbatini ($6,500)
