28. Jim Ross, Oklahoma Sooners
There may not be a voice better associated with professional wrestling than that of Jim Ross, or “Good ol’ JR” as he’s known to many wrestling fans. He was on the call for many iconic moments throughout the history of the WWE, perhaps most famously as The Undertaker sent Mankind through the top of the Hell in a Cell structure in 1998, a call that has been supercut over countless videos and highlights over the years.
However, the argument could be made that JR’s true passion isn’t professional wrestling at all. While that’s certainly a major and massive part of his life and who he is, his true love might just be the Oklahoma Sooners. Ross is s devout fan of the team residing in Norman and has been for quite some time.
In fact, Ross’ fandom of the Sooners even bled into his time in professional wrestling. His entrance music for much of his time in the WWE was actually “Boomer Sooner”, the fight song for Oklahoma. And wrestling fans surely became accustomed to him dropping random OU references into his calls while he was on the microphone during wrestling matches.
Ross is no longer in the booth for WWE, but he’s still a prominent figure for Sooners football. He’s a season ticket holder for Oklahoma and oftentimes winds up on the sidelines for games. With two-straight Heisman winners and trips to the College Football Playoff for OU, Ross has certainly had a lot to cheer about as of late.
