DraftKings NBA Picks January 31: I’m FREAKing out man!

We have a nice six game slate for our DraftKings NBA tournaments tonight. With LeBron out again, there are only two players that top five figures, but there are four more over $9,000. There are more stars out tonight than last night, and a couple of pretty good places to attack. Let’s take a look!

More from DFS

The money line was a solid 270.25 DraftKings points. I had two come in just under that, but had four over 300, and one that cracked the top 300. Overall, it was a good night in the 20 max.

WeDemDucks put up 376.25 DraftKings points, a whopping 15.25 ahead of second place to take this down. He build with Lillard and Jokic and got massive value from Bayless, Bogdan, Bagley, Selden, and Kenrich Willams. McCollum was just the icing on the lineup.

DraftKings NBA Point Guards:

Best Bets:

Luka Doncic ($8,500): There are places to attack the Philly-Warriors game, but point guard is not one of them. Not with a superb play like Doncic cheaper than both Simmons and Curry. Doncic put up 59.5 DraftKings points in the first meeting with Detroit, and is a strong threat to do so again. I don’t really think Dallas is good enough to blow anyone out, so I think this stays fairly close. There is a real chance that Doncic is the highest scoring player of the night.

Rajon Rondo ($7,000): Rondo’s price is high enough to give me pause, but Ball is still out and the Clippers can’t really defend the point. Rondo has played at least 37 minutes in all of his games back. Even if he isn’t making a ton of shots, Rondo’s role as facilitator keeps his floor pretty solid. There is decent upside here as well.

Honorable Mention:

Darren Collison ($6,100): Orlando’s point defense hasn’t been that good over the last couple of weeks. They have plummeted from second in fantasy points allowed to point guards all the way to ninth in the span of about a fortnight. I like that Collison’s price is hanging around in the middle tier because he is producing well over 30 DraftKings points in most games, the Warriors, Sixers, and Boston being the only exception besides in last night’s blowout loss to Washington. There is good value here against Orlando.

Derrick White ($5,600): White has at least 25 DraftKings points in 10 of the last 11 games, and has been over 5x at this price in eight of those. The Spurs are sometimes hard to rely on, but the one constant lately has been the strong play of White. This is a really good matchup here against the Nets, and the price is right. White is a strong mid level play here.

Dennis Smith ($5,500): Smith picked up a triple double last night against the Knicks. The Pistons are similarly bad against point guards, so there is significant upside for DSJ again tonight. He and Doncic are playing very well together right now. The could do the same for your DraftKings lineup as well!

Dark Horses:

Reggie Jackson ($4,700): It’s hard to trust Jackson unless ish Smith is out. With Ish out, Jackson has 99.25 DraftKings points over the last three games. One of those, a 30.25 DraftKings point effort, was against Dallas. Smith has already been ruled out for tonight, so Jackson has solid upside at 30 looks attainable once again.

Edmond Sumner ($3,800): Sumner played good minutes on Monday, and outplayed Collison while starting alongside him yesterday. We probably have one more game with Sumner priced this low. We are going to need value tonight. This is easily the best place to get it. Don’t worry about ownership. Separate yourself elsewhere. Sumner is a dangerous fade right now.

My pick: Smith(PG), Sumner(G)

DraftKings NBA Shooting Guards:

Best Bets:

D’Angelo Russell ($8,400): I don’t particularly like Russell here under normal circumstances, but with Dinwiddie out, Russell deserves consideration with the way he has been playing lately. Russell has pushed over 50 DraftKings points four times in the six games. DeRozan likely will play, so I do understand a fade of Russell here, but the upside is enough to consider him on a six game slate.

Lou Williams ($7,200): Hear that? That’s the sound of Lou Williams breaking the slate. LouWill put up 50.25 DraftKings points in 30 minutes against the Lakers in the first meeting. The upside for Williams is some of the highest out there tonight. The Lakers still can’t guard shooters, and that’s what LouWill does best. He almost seems cheap at that price.

Honorable Mention:

Malcolm Brogdon ($5,600): Brogdon has averaged 28.8 DraftKings points in the three games against the Raptors this year. That puts him right about 5x value. Where else would he be? Brogdon is one of the most consistent guys out there and should be in just about every cash lineup. On a six game slate we can consider him for GPP’s, but there isn’t a lot of upside with Bledsoe upgraded to probable.

Shabazz Napier ($5,300): Napier’s price hasn’t been adjusted to where it should be with Dinwiddie out. Napier has 98.75 DraftKings points in the three games as a starter. The minutes and production aren’t going anywhere. As long as Napier’s price is in this range, he’s almost a lock for 6x value. You take that wherever you can get it.

Patrick Beverley ($5,300): Gallinari is heading towards another absence, so it looks safe to fire up Beverley again. He has 88 DraftKings points over the last two games. I know that it’s against Atlanta and Sacramento, but Beverley’s aggressiveness on the offensive end should continue with Gallo out. He is a strong play again so long as Gallinari sits as expected.

Dark Horses:

Terrence Ross ($4,900): Ross has 89.5 DraftKings points over the last three games. The Magic need his instant offense, so he is going to continue to see right around 30 minutes per game off the bench. There is always a chance that Ross goes cold, but the opportunities are going to be there. That makes him a decent value play.

Luke Kennard ($3,800): Kennard put up 28 DraftKings points on Tuesday with Reggie Bullock out. Bullock is officially listed as questionable right now. I am only using Kennard if Bullock doesn’t play. Even though Kennard has largely looked better than Bullock lately, the Pistons still prefer Bullock. Kennard’s one hot game wont change their minds. However, if Bullock is out, there is considerable value here.

My pick: Napier(SG), Ross(UTIL)

WASHINGTON, DC – JANUARY 13: Kawhi Leonard #2 of the Toronto Raptors runs down the floor in the first half against the Washington Wizards at Capital One Arena on January 13, 2019 in Washington, DC. DraftKings NBA Small Forwards:

Best Bets:

Kawhi Leonard ($9,400): A superstar stack in this game may not be a bad idea. Leonard has 101.75 DraftKnigs points in two games against the Bucks so far, which has him approaching  5.5x value. Kawhi has only been under 50 DraftKings points once since his disastrous return to the Alamo on January 3rd. I don’t see him getting held under that here either.

Kevin Durant ($9,100): It seems as though the return of Boogie has hurt Durant more than the rest of the stars so far. Actually, it has ended up hurting them all because the Warriors are steamrolling everyone. That shouldn’t happen here against Philly. Curry will have his hands full with Simmons and Boogie with Embiid, so Durant would seem to be the one with the better matchup here tonight. There is some risk involved with so many stars on this team, but Durant should be the one to carry them here.

Honorable Mention:

Brandon Ingram ($7,300): Ingram is the Lakers offense with both LeBron and Kyle Kuzma out. Kuzma did practice yesterday, so it appears as though he is closer to probable than questionable. That will take a chunk out of Ingram’s production, but I would expect Kumza to not jump right back into 40 minutes in his first game back. I like Ingram less if Kuzma is back, but there is still enough upside to make Ingram a decent play.

Bojan Bogdanovic ($5,200): Bojan continues to shoulder more of a scoring load for the Pacers with Oladipo out, and his price really hasn’t budged. If Bojan hasn’t crushed a night yet, he probably wont at this point, but he did put up 35.75 DraftKings points in the first meeting against the Magic. This is a strong place to use Bogdanovic tonight. We should get one of his better games.

Dark Horses:

Marco Belinelli ($4,200): Some of Belinelli’s production will go down with DeRozan back, but I would expect it to hurt Bryn Forbes and Patty Mills worse. Belinelli was putting up good numbers with DeMar in there. He should here as well, just don’t expect any more trips to 7x value land. Belinelli is pretty much confined to 5-6x value once again.

Andre Iguodala ($3,900): My go-to value play is back. Iggy has very little upside, but he still plays around half the game every night, blowout or not. It’s hard to find that kind of consistency in bench players. That is also what makes Iguodala a pretty low risk punt. There just isn’t much for upside either.

Stanley Johnson ($3,700): Johnson played his most minutes in the month of January on Tuesday with Bullock out. If Bullock misses again, the trickle down effect is going to be kind to Johnson again. Johnson had 26.75 DraftKings points on Tuesday, and should be in line for similar output if Bullock is out again. If Bullock plays, you can safely ignore Johnson, Kennard, and Bullock.

My pick: Leonard(SF)

DraftKings NBA
WASHINGTON, DC – JANUARY 21: Blake Griffin #23 of the Detroit Pistons dribbles the ball against the Washington Wizards in the first half at Capital One Arena on January 21, 2019 in Washington, DC. DraftKings NBA Power Forwards:

Best Bets:

Giannis Antetokounmpo ($10,600): Giannis has abused the Raptors this year. In two games against Toronto, Giannis has 128.25 DraftKings points in just 76 minutes. This could be a preview of the Eastern Conference finals. You can bet Milwaukee is going to show up in this one too. Giannis is my favorite play tonight, and it really isn’t close. He will be in 100% of my builds.

Blake Griffin ($9,300): Griffin mauled the Dallas interior for 50.25 DraftKings points only two games ago. Not much has changed since then. Just the venue. Griffin’s DraftKings points per game average is slightly lower at home, but Blake still looks like a strong bet to hit 50 again.

Honorable Mention:

Tobias Harris ($8,500): Harris continues to put up some big numbers with the Clippers banged up. Of course, it just wouldn’t be Tobias Harris if he were doing this consistently. Harris does have more than 50 DraftKings points in three of the last seven, but he has also been under 40 in three of those as well. That’s a little too all or nothing for me, but if Kuzma is out again, I’d take a chance on Harris again.

Kyle Kuzma ($6,900): It’s hard to pass on Kuzma if he is able to play tonight. He has been the heart of the offense for the Lakers with LeBron out. Despite Ingram’s best efforts over the last couple of games, the Lakers still haven’t really hung around. They need Kuzma. But does a Kuzma playing 30 minutes at 70% help that much? There is plenty of risk here, but there is upside if Kuzma is not limited.

Pascal Siakam ($6,200): Siakam has saved his best for Milwaukee so far this year. He is averaging 41.4 DraftKings points in the three tilts against Milwaukee. There is a good amount of upside here for Siakam, but the fact that he has only topped 40 DraftKings points twice in the last ten and 5x value in four of those ten isn’t lost on me. This one makes me nervous, but you can’t argue how good Siakam has been against the Bucks this year.

Dark Horses:

Thaddeus Young ($5,400): Yesterday was yet another strong outing by Young. There is a hard cap on his upside since Sabonis takes more minutes even if he doesn’t start. Still, Young put up 33.25 DraftKings points in the first game against the Magic. If he comes up with something close to that tonight, I don’t think any of us are going to complain.

Davis Bertans ($4,300): Sometimes DraftKings is slow, and this is one of those areas where that is very apparent. Bertans has 67.5 DraftKings points in the games since he returned from personal leave. Bertans is seeing big minutes for the Spurs regardless of the status of anyone else. It will be interesting to see if he loses minutes with DeRozan back, but even if Bertans only plays around 25 minutes instead of 30, he will still hit value. There is little risk here.

My pick: Antetokounmpo(PF), Bertans(F)

DraftKings NBA
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA – JANUARY 29: Joel Embiid #21 of the Philadelphia 76ers reacts to his three pointer during a 121-105 win over the Los Angeles Lakers at Staples Center on January 29, 2019 in Los Angeles, California. DraftKings NBA Centers:

Best Bets:

Joel Embiid ($10,100): The more I look at this, the less I like Embiid. He’s not going to be able to push Boogie around. The one thing that is going to help Embiid here is that Cousins wont play much more than half the game. Embiid is probably going to be around 50 DraftKings points tonight, but I think we can do better for the price. Not at the position, but there are plenty of good centers out there.

LaMarcus Aldridge ($8,300): HE’S PLAYING THE NETS! LMA should be starting at center tonight and well all know the Nets are a wreck up front. Aldridge should have no problem wrecking them here.

More from FanSided

Honorable Mention:

Montrezl Harrell ($6,800): Harrell has been starting at center lately, so that’s the big difference between the first meeting and this one. Harrell played just 20 minutes in the first meeting with the Lakers. I would say Harrell will play right around 30 minutes tonight against a Lakers interior that is better with Zubac starting.

DeMarcus Cousins ($6,700): Boogie continues to produce big numbers in small minutes. Despite not playing more than 25 minutes, Cousins is averaging 32 DraftKings points per game. He only needs 33.5 DraftKings points to hit value. There ins’t a ton of upside here, but the Warriors have been gradually increasing the minutes every game. Cousins should be up around 27 minutes tonight. He can hit value at that without much of a problem.

Dark Horses:

Serge Ibaka ($6,100): Like his frontcourt mate, Ibaka has abused the Bucks this year as well. Ibaka is averaging 45 DraftKings points in the three games against the Bucks so far. The Toronto front is affordable and has a great track record against Milwaukee this year. It’s hard to ignore either one of them tonight.

Ivica Zubac ($5,100): Zubac was eaten alive by Embiid on Tuesday. That resulted in a resurgent game from JaVale McGee off the bench. It’s going to be hard to predict just who is going to produce for the Lakers, but the Lakers are probably going to need Zubac’s skill set more against Harrell than McGee’s, but keep an eye on the starting lineup if using a Lakers center.

My pick: Ibaka(C)
