Los Angeles Chargers-Sign Ndamukong Suh

With Corey Liuget (quad) up in the air for Week 1 next season, and Brandon Mebane, Darius Philion and Damion Square set to hit free agency, the Chargers have a void to fill on the defensive line. They are situated well on the edges, with Joey Bosa and Melvin Ingram, but depth could be a concern.

The Chargers sit around the middle of the league with almost $28 million in cap space right now, so big splashes in free agency are not coming. But someone like Suh, who should be looking to win above all else regardless of the result of Super LIII (yet to be played as of this writing) can be on the radar.

Suh had a good 2018 regular season for the Los Angeles Rams, with 4.5 sacks, 19 quarterback hits, four pass breakups, two fumble recoveries and 60 total tackles while grading out in the upper tier of interior defenders (via Pro Football Focus). That’s enough to put him in line for a nice multi-year deal this offseason, as he re-enters free agency, but he could come at a relative discount. In the playoffs, entering the Super Bowl, Suh has turned his play up a notch.

The Chargers have to surround their core with targeted moves, as their window with Philip Rivers winds down. Suh may end up being too expensive, but they should be interested in bringing him across town until that’s proven. .
