FanDuel PGA: 2019 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am Picks
Welcome to this edition of FanDuel PGA Picks from FantasyCPR.com. Here you will find players to target for this weekend’s AT&T Pebble Beach Pro Am, taking place in Pebble Beach Golf Links in Pebble Beach, California.
In this article, I will present to you some players to consider from each price tier for FanDuel PGA. Some plays will be geared toward cash games, and some for GPP tournaments. Some of course will also technically qualify as both. As we break each play down, I will be sure to specify which type of contests I am targeting that player in.
I will give two players to target from the $11K-$15K, two targets from the $10K-$11K range, and two from the $9-10K range. After that will come my top value plays from the $8-9K range, along with a couple of GPP flyers below $8K. Last but certainly not least, I will end the article the ever popular sample lineup we like to do here at FantasyCPR. Before we get to all that, let’s check out how things fared with last week’s sample lineup!
FanDuel PGA: The 2019 Waste Management Phoenix Open Recap:
G – Hideki Matsuyama – $11,800 – (78.4)
G – Phil Mickelson – $11,100 – (22.3)
G – Matt Kuchar – $10,700 – (110.6)
G – Joel Dahmen – $9,000 – (19.7)
G – Talor Gooch – $8,700 – (27.7)
G – Jason Kokrak – $8,600 – (87.7)
(346.4)
Well streaks are made to be broken I guess. Midway through the second round I realized where my main mistake was made, but I am not sure it would have mattered anyways. Considering Mickelson is a guy I never roster, I am not sure why I just didn’t go down to Webb Simpson there, and go up from Joel Dahmen to Benny An.
I didn’t really feel comfortable with Dahmen, but I did think he would be quite a bit more chalkier than he ended up being. And on the flip side of that, I was on An quite a bit in GPP’s and other places as well.
It was bound to happen at some point, but that will definitely be a DFS January I will remember for a long time. Time to get back to it with this weeks AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, and we are back to rotating courses and organized chaos pretty much with everything going on with the Pro-Am side of things.
60+ players make the cut after three days, so it is different from the usual two-day, 70+ player cuts. Dustin Johnson is back stateside after winning the Saudi International on the European Tour last week, and he looks like the clear-cut favorite to win at Pebble Beach this week. Without further delay, let’s try to get back in the win column.
FanDuel PGA: Top Tier Picks: ($11,000 – $12,500)
Dustin Johnson – $12,400 – (GPP)
DJ is back, and in a big way with a win in Saudi Arabia last weekend, at the inaugural Saudi International tournament on the European Tour. He is a staple here at Pebble Beach for the Pro Am, and has had plenty of success here as well.
Johnson won back-to-back here back in 2009 and 2010, and more recently added runner-up finishes in 2014 and 2018. In my opinion is he clearly the best player in the field considering his dominant win last week, and the only thing keeping me from rostering him in cash games is the weather forecast.
It isn’t that DJ is bad in rain and wind, it’s just that there are other players who thrive in these conditions. I am going to save Johnson for my GPP’s, but I will still have plenty of exposure. For cash games, I probably will be below 10% once again on this one, but give me this next pick instead.
Jason Day – $11,700 – (Cash)
Johnson’s record is impressive here, and while Day has yet to win this event, his success is very similar. Day was among four golfers who finished T-2 last year, but the overall track record is what I am looking at here.
Day finished sixth here in 2013, and struggled to a +1, T-64 finish in 2014. He followed that by going T-4, T-11, T-5, T-2 since, and it is clear that this is one of his favorite places to play. The recent form is there as well, as he is coming off of a T-5 at the Farmers Insurance Open, and has finished no worse than 16th in his five events thus far this season. Both Day and DJ are among the best on these poa greens, and I fully expect both to be in contention on Sunday.
***Also Consider: Tommy Fleetwood $11,500 – Patrick Cantlay $11,000***
FanDuel PGA: Mid Tier Picks: ($10,000 – $11,000)
Branden Grace – $10,400 – (Cash/GPP)
In this price range, there are three solid cash plays that I really want to build around, and it starts right here with Grace. The 30-year-old South African native is primarily a European Tour player, and he is one of these “by the sea” players who really thrive in wind, cold, and possibly rain.
Grace teed it up in Abu Dhabi three weeks ago and notched a solid T-27. He then proceeded to head to the U.S. for the Farmers Insurance Open, where travel fatigue may have gotten him a bit as he missed the cut.
He was able to bounce back last week at the Waste Management Phoenix Open, as he crept up the leaderboard all weekend, and finished strong in unfavorable conditions, which is exactly what is expected this week. He ended up 15-under, finishing alone in second, and losing by two strokes to Rickie Fowler.
Shane Lowry – $10,000 – (Cash)
Lowry and Grace are pretty similar, but if you consider the fact that Lowry is the number one player on the European Tour, you should realize this price is criminal. My honest opinion on this one, is that with the expected weather and his recent form overseas, he should be priced right with Patrick Cantlay at $11,000. This is as solid of a cash lock as Phil was last week, (that’s an ironic joke) and this could very well be my favorite overall play this week.
Lowry hasn’t played on this side of the pond in quite some time now, but is a regular here at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am. In 2017 he was solid, as he finished T-14, and last year he slipped a bit, finishing 5-under and T-43. However, with the number one ranking on the Euro Tour, there has to be some great finishes as of late.
Most recently, Lowry was victorious at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship just three weeks ago, and followed that with a T-12 at the Dubai Desert Classic. He was also the runner-up to Sergio Garcia at the Andalucia Masters in October, and sandwiched another top-15 in there at the Turkish Airlines Open.
***Also Consider: Rafa Cabrera-Bello $10,600 – Chez Reavie $10,500***
FanDuel PGA: Low Tier Picks: ($9,000 – $10,000)
Matthew Fitzpatrick – $9,700 – (GPP)
No I am not obsessed with European Tour players, or up-and-coming rookies for that matter, but there is a definite trend that golfers in both of those categories are vastly under priced, and Fitzpatrick happens to fit nicely into both.
Fitzpatrick is just 24-years-old, and he has already amassed five wins on the European Tour. He won the British Masters in 2015, and he also has won the Omega European Masters the last two seasons. He is a first timer here at Pebble Beach which is always some cause for concern, but he should be a fairly under the radar tournament play.
Most recently, Fitzpatrick finished T-16 at the Dubai Desert Classic, and was the runner-up at the Hong Kong Open in November. Considering just the quality of his overall game, a top-20 is not out of the question here.
Russell Knox – $9,200 – (Cash)
The young South Korean Sungjae Im is still playing well, and I am still on that train for tournaments this week, but I hopped on board another train this week, and I hope to ride on the Russell Knox train a little longer than I was on the Phil Mickelson train.
There was a period last year where it looked like Knox was done, but something has definitely clicked over the last couple months, and he has made five straight cuts since missing at the Safeway Open in October. What put him on my radar and put me aboard the train though, was the performance on Sunday in the inclement weather at the Waste Management Phoenix Open.
Knox pulled off a 68 in the cold and rain, which turned out to be one of the best rounds of the day considering the conditions. If we get four days of that this week, Knox looks to be in a great spot. After the solid Sunday, he ended up notching a top-10 with a T-10 finish.
***Also Consider – Brian Gay $9,600 – Sungjae Im $9,300***
FanDuel PGA: Top Value Picks: ($9,000 or Less)
Nick Watney – $8,800 – (GPP)
I am kind of going the opposite of normal here on this one, and I will explain why. First of all, this spot would have easily been Jason Kokrak once again, as he notched another top-20, and was one of my better cash recommendations. However, he has withdrawn for undisclosed reasons, and I can only hope that causes his price to go down whenever he decides to tee it up next.

I needed another play in this spot, and recent performance, along with a decent history here at Pebble Beach landed me on Nick Watney. I won’t have a ton of shares on this as his performance in the rain on Sunday was lackluster, but he has made seven straight cuts, and pulled off a top-15 here in 2017.
Trey Mullinax – $8,000 – (Cash)
Speaking of boarding trains and riding hot players, Mullinax is a player I did not talk about in my articles last week, as I was kind of turned on to him later in the week. That is all the more reason to follow me on Twitter, as Trey was on my player pool list which I tweet out close to lock every week.
This article usually comes out on Tuesday nights, and my full player pool likely is not 100% complete at this moment, but my goal here is always to give you my cash lineup for the sample lineup at the very least.
Someone pointed out to me the fact that Mullinax had two big scoring rounds at the Desert Classic, and ended up with 96 FDP. Exactly what I happened to be looking for to round out my GPP’s was a guy who was right around $7,500, and Mullinax did not disappoint, as he only improved on the last couple of weeks.
He was 11-under after two rounds last week at the Waste Management Phoenix Open, but also struggled a bit on the weekend. Regardless, I don’t think his salary came up enough this week, and I am firing up the 26-year-old in cash games this week.
***Bonus GPP Flyers: Doug Ghim $8,200 – Adam Svensson $7,200***
