NHL DFS Man Advantage Wednesday February 6th
By Matt Vecchio
Welcome to NHL DFS Man Advantage for Wednesday night February 6th! After a huge 12 game slate on Tuesday we are scaled all the way down to a simple 2 game slate. This a tough 2 game slate because we have 4 teams who can score, but who also have good goalies who could put up an amazing performance at any time. With only two games I will give you a break down of both games instead of my usual format.
NHL DFS Schedule
7:30PM
Ottawa @ Toronto
8PM
Boston @ NY Rangers
NHL DFS Goalies:
With Jaroslav Halak ($7,500) getting the start against the Rangers I am not sure I am looking at that game for goaltending. Halak has been bad of late (4 straight loses) and the Rangers are starting their back up, Alexander Georgiov ($7,100). Craig Anderson ($6,800) is actually a pretty decent option for GPP’s but he will not be in any of my cash game lineups.
With all three other goalies on the night discussed above, that leaves Frederik Andersen ($8,300) as the best cash game goalie on the night. Andersen has won 2 of his last 3 starts, his one loss was in OT. In his last 3 Andersen has allowed only 7 goals as well as 6 FPPG.
NHL DFS Game Breakdown
Ottawa Senators @ Toronto Maple Leafs
When you get a divisional matchup like this one anything can happen, like a Ottawa upset, but I just don’t see that happening in Toronto tonight.
My favorite play from this game is Mitch Marner ($7,000). In Marner’s one game against Ottawa this season he has 1 goal and 1 assists as well as 6 SOG totaling 8 fantasy points. Marner has been on little bit off a cold streak of late and is due for a break out ( I correctly said that John Tavares ($7,100) would break out of his slump on Monday) and Ottawa seems like the team for Marner to do it against. Looking at the value from Toronto William Nylander ($4,000) has 1 goal and 4 assists in the 4 games since he was put on the same line with Nazem Kadri ($5,400) and Connor Brown ($2,800). Brown is another play to consider with either Nylander or Kadri since he is seeing an uptick in his minutes (2 more minutes per game than his season average last game). Obviously Auston Matthews ($7,500) is always in play as well.
From Ottawa, Matt Duchene ($5,800) has a goal and an assist in his last 3 and earned 4.5 fantasy points in his previous game against Toronto (1a, 3 SOG, 2 BS). Duchene and Bobby Ryan ($4,200) and Ryan Dzingel ($4,800) are a good stacking option. Chris Tierney ($3,400) scored in the Senators last game against the Leafs and had 4.5 fantasy points. Tierney plays on the 4th line but also centers the Senators 2nd PP unit. In his last 10 games Tierney has 2 goals and 7 assists.
Looking at the defense for both teams, there isn’t much from Ottawa except Thomas Chabot ($5,900). Chabot has not played exceptionally well of late, but did have 2 goals and an assist for 11 fantasy points in the last game against Toronto. For Toronto, Jake Muzzin is my top play on D. After being held off the score sheet for in his first 2 games as a Leaf, Muzzin busted out for a goal and 2 assists in his last game totaling 9 fantasy points.
NHL DFS – Game Breakdown – Boston and New York
This game is more straight forward and where I will probably spend the majority of my salary on the night. I will most likely be focusing on using the top lines from both teams. I will most likely look to start with Mika Zibanejad ($6,500) since he is the hottest player on the Rangers right now with 4 goals and 4 assists in his last 3 games.

For a mini stack Mats Zuccarello ($5,900) is my favorite option to pair with Zibanejad with 1 goal and 6 assists in his last 4 games. Outside of the Rangers top line there really isn’t much else there to use fantasy wise as most of the teams minutes fluctuate too much to rely on. Other options to consider are Chris Kreider ($5,500) to round out line 1 and Kevin Hayes ($5,000) also sees time with the top line on the 1st PP unit.
From Boston, it’s much of the same as above with the Rangers. The Bruins top line of David Pastrnak ($7,200), Patrice Bergeron ($6,900), and Brad Marchand ($6,600) are in play as they are every night, but after them there is a significant drop off in talent for Boston. You can look at the value, but I just don’t trust any of it.
On defense between these teams there is some slim pickings as well. Zdeno Chara ($3,800) has 13.5 fantasy points in his last 4 games with only 1 assist but does have 9 SOG and 14 BS. Kevin Shattenkirk ($4,000) is the only defenseman I might consider from the Rangers.
