Jimbo Fisher is making it clear he’s worth every penny. He’s put together an impressive recruiting class for Texas A&M, hoping to build off their 2018 campaign.

Texas A&M knew what they were doing when they signed former Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher to a 10-year, $75 million contract in 2018. Fisher led the Aggies to a 9-4 finish, traversing the most daunting schedule in FBS. A&M nearly edged out the eventual National Champion No. 2 Clemson at home, upset No. 14 Kentucky and No. 11 LSU at home.

If you’re an Aggie fan, you’re happy with the way 2018 went: beat the teams you were supposed to, keep the games you weren’t supposed to win close.

The class of 2019 noticed what’s going on in College Station and jumped right on board. Fisher and his staff, which includes Director of Player Personnel Austin Thomas, assembled the fourth-ranked class this recruiting season and have set themselves up nicely for 2019.

Among the high-profile recruits include five-star defensive tackle DeMarvin Leal (Converse, TX), who is the second-ranked defensive tackle in the country. A&M ranked third in the country in rushing defense, allowing an incredible 95 yards per game. They also piled up 37 sacks (2.85 per game) against some of the best offensive lines in the country in Alabama and Clemson. Leal is just the next in a long line of talented defensive lineman to play for the Aggies.

The other five-star signed was offensive tackle Kenyon Green (Humble, TX), who was the top recruit in the state of Texas. Green will solidify an offensive line that struggled to keep quarterback Kellen Mond safe, sacrificing 35 sacks in 2018 (T-102nd).

Mond will have a new set of threats to pass to this upcoming season, as the Aggies signed on the top tight end in the country, Baylor Cupp (Brock, TX), and two four-star receivers, Dylan Wright (Mesquite, TX) and Kam Brown (Coffeyville, TX). The A&M offense already averaged 252 passing yards per game in 2018, and Cupp, Wright, and Brown should help add to that total.

Overall, Fisher pieced together an outstanding class that is jam-packed with talent. Texas A&M should continue to climb in the rankings and prove to be a formidable threat in the SEC.
