BIG3 has revealed that Los Angeles Lakers fan favorite and two time back-to-back NBA Champion Lamar Odom will join the 2019 draft pool for season 3.

The Candy Man cometh BIG3 fans, Lamar Odom has officially entered the 2019 NBA draft pool! Odom is arriving fresh, currently playing overseas in a tournament for Philippine ball club Mighty Sports. The storied Laker last played in the NBA for the New York Knicks in 2014 and along with his 2009 and 2010 championship rings, owns a 2010 FIBA Gold Medal and a 2004 Olympic Bronze Medal.

Odom was the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year in 2011 and averaged 13.3 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game over his 14-year NBA career. Odom is best remembered for his time with Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol, Ron Artest (Metta World Peace), Coach Phil Jackson and the rest of the championship-era Lakers squad but he also had memorable years on the LA Clippers and Miami Heat.

The versatile Odom was originally drafted by the LA Clippers with the fourth overall pick in 1999 and was compared to Magic Johnson by Pat Riley, he would later play for the Miami Heat in the 2003-04 season. During his early years on the Clippers, Odom played with BIG3 season 2 MVP Corey Maggette along with Power teammate Quentin “Q-Rich” Richardson. Odom’s talent was noticeable right away as he became a member of the NBA All-Rookie First Team in 2000.

Before the NBA, Odom was First-Team All Atlantic 10 and named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year following his freshman year at the University of Rhode Island. It would be great to see Metta World Peace and Lamar Odom sharing the same court again, although he’ll likely go to one of the BIG3’s newer expansion teams with the league going from 8 to 12 teams.

Odom will be joined by Lakers’ alumni Shannon Brown and Steve Blake in the BIG3’s season 3 draft pool. Blake last played for the NBA in the 2015-2016 for the Detroit Pistons and had a 9-game playing stint on the Sydney Kings for the 2016-2017 NBL season. Former Detroit Pistons point guard, Will Bynum, has also been announced for the 2019 BIG3 draft. Bynum last played in the NBA in the 2014-2015 season for the Washington Wizards and has since played overseas.
