It’s time for matchweek 26 of the Premier League and there are plenty of exciting games to watch. Here are five bold predictions for all the action.
Another Premier League weekend is almost upon us and there are plenty of exciting games to look forward to. Cardiff travel to Southampton in a relegation battle while at the other end of the table, Liverpool and Manchester City host Bournemouth and Chelsea respectively.
Tottenham will look to maintain their own title challenge as they host Leicester while Newcastle’s new signing, Miguel Almiron, could make his debut against Wolves on Monday. Here are five bold predictions for all the action.
5. Miguel Almiron makes impressive Newcastle debut against Wolves
The January transfer window wasn’t the most exciting with most of the top six clubs doing little to no business. One team that got a lot of the headlines was, Newcastle, who broke their record transfer fee by signing Miguel Almiron from MLS champions Atlanta United.
The Paraguayan playmaker didn’t play last weekend against Spurs but he’s been in training with his new teammates and it looks like he should make his debut against Wolves in the final fixture of the Premier League weekend.
Almiron is an attacking midfielder with the ability to open up games, something the Magpies have been missing this season. Newcastle are looking a lot more resolute at the back and their new signing should help them to find the net more frequently with his vision and goalscoring touch.
It’s not a definite that Almiron will start considering his season finished back in December, but it’s likely that he’ll get some game time and the Newcastle fans will be desperate to see him play. Wolves won’t be an easy first game for him but Rafa Benitez must trust in his ability considering the money that’s been spent on him.
Newcastle will probably adapt a similar game plan to their games against Tottenham and Manchester City, where they sat back and tried to take any chances on the break. Having someone like Almiron on the pitch should allow them to be more effective in those circumstances.
Wolves haven’t been fantastic defensively recently either, most notably in their 4-3 thriller with Leicester a couple of weeks ago. Therefore, Newcastle should get chances to score on Monday and don’t be surprised if Almiron has a part to play in any goals.
