DraftKings NBA Picks February 9: Chasing Wilt Chamberlain
We have a solid Saturday night with another eight games for our DraftKings NBA tournaments. The dust has settled from the trade deadline. The last moving parts from the trades at the deadline will be debuting with their new teams tonight. There is plenty of value out there if you want to use one of the five players prices in five figures.

I went pretty light last night because I knew I was going to be on the road. I built two more lineups to go with my published ones. Two broke 300, but only one cracked the money line of 312.25.
theybelikejcream took it down with a robust 397.75 DraftKings points. He built with a bunch of middle tier guys that went off like Drummond, Whiteside, Wiggins, Markkanen, and Dennis Smith and got huge value out of J.J. Redick, Josh Jackson, and Collin Sexton.
I just got in to Springfield Missouri at 3am and have a full day planned tomorrow, so this is going to be a little less in depth than normal. Don’t skip out on me! There’s still plenty of good information in here!

DraftKings NBA Point Guards:
Best Bets:
The top of point guard is either Russ or Harden, but neither of them have hit value against each other this year. I would rather fade Russ than Harden, but I can make a stronger case for using them both. Both are chasing the ghost of Wilt Chamberlain. One more triple double, and Russ will tie the NBA record set by Wilt with his ninth straight. Harden is second only to Wilt in consecutive 30 point games. It seems the only place they can’t catch Wilt is between the sheets, but as of now, there are no DFS rewards for that.
The Clippers and Atlanta are both horrible against point guards. I would lay off of Kyrie because of the blowout potential, but Kemba has three straight games of more than 58 DraftKings points. Atlanta isn’t going to cool him off, and this game shouldn’t be a blowout.
It’s a smash alert for Mike Conley. He has 120.25 DraftKings points in the three games against the Pelicans this year. The only thing that worries me was his horrid performance in a blowout loss to the Thunder. More of those are on the way, so Conley’s minutes could take a big hit.
Honorable Mention:
I’m not a real big fan of the middle tier. I can’t really argue with Lowry against the Knicks as we all saw what Reggie Jackson did to DSJ last night, but something seems off with Lowry right now. Harden is still doing it all for the Rockets, so I’ll leave CP3. Eric Bledsoe is a solid pick against Orlando, who as I’ve stated, are in the bottom ten of the league in point guard defense over the last three weeks. That belies their season long numbers.
Kris Dunn and Darren Collison are both going to give you what you pay for, but their ceilings are pretty low. I see them more as cash game options, albeit good ones. Tomas Satoransky is a sneaky upside play against the Bulls, though his floor is lower than both Dunn and Collison.
Dark Horses:
The value tier is pretty ugly. Collin Sexton has played well lately, but the Indiana guard defense is legit. They are the best in the league, and have been for some time. I want precisely zero Cleveland guards tonight.
SGA against Boston and D.J. Augustin against Milwaukee are similarly bad matchups. The only one I’m really considering here is Cory Joseph. He plays a lot of minutes with Oladipo out, and DraftKings still hasn’t really raised his price.
My pick: Joseph(PG)
DraftKings NBA Shooting Guards:
Best Bets:
It’s pretty much plug and play with Brad Beal right now. He put up 54.75 against the Bulls the first time around without Wall. Expect more of the same tonight. I could see fading Harden for Beal since I’m not convinced their actual totals are going to be that far off.
Jrue Holiday looked even better with the Pelicans bigs back on the court, but I don’t trust him tonight. Memphis is likely facing another blowout. You wont get the return you want on Holiday’s price.
Honorable Mention:
Lou Williams was a complete flop for the post apocalyptic Clippers on Thursday. It’s not going to get any better against Boston. I think we can trust Zach LaVine here, but that’s about it. I’m probably stacking the Bulls backcourt and running it back with Beal in at least one lineup. We’ll get to the frontcourt later.
Malcolm Brodgon and Khris Middleton are probably going to get you value, but not much more. For GPP’s, I think Jeremy Lamb has pretty high upside against Atlanta. He wont cost you all that much either, but his floor is nowhere near Brogdon’s.
Dark Horses:
Terrence Ross is so hot right now (picture me saying that in Mugatu’s voice from Zoolander) that I’m even considering him against the Bucks.
Dennis Schroder remains one of the safer value picks you can have. He has found his niche for the Thunder just like PG and Russ have. This team is going to be a tough out this year.
My interest in Jaylen Brown is much as it was on Thursday. If this game blows out, Brown is going to rack up the minutes. Hey, it’s still a safer play than any Knicks guard not named Dennis Smith.
While I do think Landry Shamet will play quite a bit and is worth a look, the thing that stood out the most from Thursday’s G-League game was Sindarius Thornwell. It would be cruel for the Clippers to phase him out of the rotation with as well as he played. I want Thornwell in several lineups again tonight.
My pick: Beal(SG), Ross(G)
DraftKings NBA Small Forwards:
Best Bets:
Just lock in Paul George. Don’t mess with that Kawhi nonsense. Will he sit? Will he play? I don’t give a rats ass. Give me PG ALL DAY!
Honorable Mention:
I don’t particularly like the matchup for Gallinari either, but he did rack up 27.25 DraftKings points in just 20 minutes against the Pacers. The blowout potential is going to push a lot of people off of this one, but Galinari might still hit value. If for some reason this game stays close, he could push 40.
Bojan Bogdanovic has been an assassin from the outside, much like he was the first time Oladipo went down. The best part is that DraftKings has been slow to raise his price. Bojan isn’t going to do much more than score, but in all fairness, he does score a lot.
Otto Porter‘s Chicago debut was a solid one, but the telling thing was that he played 34 minutes. Now he gets the team that just traded him. Yeah, I want a lot of Otto tonight.
Dark Horses:
I guess we don’t need to worry about the value of Kenrich Williams. He’s going to keep his minutes. Williams played 37 minutes and put up a strong 33 DraftKings points against Minnesota and his price actually dropped $300. Thanks DraftKings!
Jabari Parker shredded Cleveland last night. Now he’s about to show his former team what he can do if they had actually played him. I will have Parker in every lineup I make.
Okay, I lied. There is one Cavs player I would consider against Indiana, and it’s David Nwaba. Cleveland is finally ramping up his minutes coming off the injury. He’s going to smash value at his price in 30 minutes, making him a superb value play.
My pick: George(SF), Parker(UTIL)
DraftKings NBA Power Forwards:
Best Bets:
My only beef about playing Giannis is this: The Bucks are on the second night of a back to back against a team they have throttled twice. In fact, Giannis has only played 51 minutes combined in those games against Orlando. He still has 83.5 DraftKings points, but that’s not nearly enough at his inflated price.
Julius Randle only played 24 minutes last night, but he was productive in those minutes. If the Pelicans turn him loose, he can do some serious damage against a Memphis team that he has averaged 41.2 DraftKings points against in three games this year.
Honorable Mention:
John Collins is going to ravage Charlotte if this game stays close. I will have him in a lineup or two just in case. However, Lauri Markkanen is probably the play of the night at power forward again. He could drop another 50 for just $7,500.
I really love Kenneth Faried in this spot. He has yet to be under 30 or over 40 for DraftKings points in his Houston career, which probably leaves him better suited for cash games. However, there is GPP upside against a Thunder team that has been gouged by power forwards this year.
A couple of things stand out in this tier. Thad Young against Cleveland and Jayson Tatum against the suddenly undersized Clippers. Tatum is in a smash spot here, and he’s only $6,000.
Dark Horses:
I don’t like the matchup for Jonathan Isaac, but he is price right. The lack of upside leaves him as a cash play only for me, but he’s hard to ignore if you need to go cheap.
I do like Daniel Theis if he is able to play tonight. If not, PF is pretty barren for bargains. Khem Birch is still not getting a lot of minutes, but he’s not splitting production with Mo Bamba either, so his numbers are good enough for the price.
My pick: Markkanen(PF)
DraftKings NBA Centers:
Best Bets:
Anthony Davis ravaged Minnesota last night, but he also played just 25 minutes. I think we are going to see a lot of this down the stretch. The Pelicans have no incentive to play him more than that. I would be shocked if Davis plays more than 30 minutes again this year unless he has a change of heart and is willing to stay in New Orleans.
Honorable Mention:
I literally hate the matchup for every center but Davis priced above $6,500. That doesn’t happen very often. The one exception that I may be able to be talked into is Myles Turner. He is playing very well lately, and he wont have to deal with Tristan Thompson.
Here we talk tandem fronts. Jaren Jackson and Ivan Rabb both look good, but I really don’t like the matchup against the Pelicans for their price. If forced to use one, I would take Jackson because the Pelicans are going to limit Davis’s minutes every chance they get. The other tandem actually just invited a third into their harmonious frontcourt. How’s that going to work? I don’t know that I trust Ibaka or Marc Gasol despite the rich matchup, but Pascal Siakam is still safe.
Steven Adams looks like an absolute steal against the Rockets. I know that he is almost an afterthought on offense, but he could hit value in rebounds alone against a Capela-less Houston.
Dark Horses:
Bobby Portis was a Bull. He was happy as a Bull. He even wanted to stay a Bull for ever and ever. The Bulls had other ideas. A sad Bobby headed for the nation’s capital and took out his aggression on Cleveland. What do you think he’s going to do against the team that he wanted to play for forever and ever. LOCK HIM IN!
Why in the world is DeAndre Jordan only $5,500? He has two double doubles in three games as a Knick, and he is pretty much guaranteed 30 minutes per game. That’s something when we talk about the Knicks.
Ivica Zubac is just $3,500, and the Clippers don’t really have a center. He’s going to eat Boston if the Clippers let him.
My pick: Portis(F), Zubac(C)
