NFL Free Agency 2019: Best wide receivers available
By Nick Villano
1. Golden Tate
Which wide receiver ranks 2-10 could have everyone arguing because there’s so many in the middle of the pack, but in terms of which wide receiver tops the charts, there is no argument. Even after falling off a bit after his trade to the Philadelphia Eagles, Golden Tate is the best receiver on the market.
After two straight 1,000 yard seasons, Tate disappointed with just 795 this season. Again, this was due to his trade to the Eagles working out in the worst possible way. Part of it had to do with dealing with a new offense, and it didn’t help that Alshon Jeffrey came back and played very well for a few games.
Tate will still cash in this offseason in a major way. Mostly because he’s the best of a bad group, but we’ve seen in the past that usually means a player gets way more money than expected. Even with Tate puttering out towards the end of the season, someone will chalk it up to not working in that particular system.
It probably helps he scored the game-winning touchdown for the Eagles win against the Chicago Bears in the playoffs. It was the best moment of his tenure there, and some said he made up for the trade with that one catch. It was the momentum he needed to go into the offseason. Some team will come with a big contract offer, and he’s likely the one with the least amount of risk because he’s proven himself over his nine-year career.
